Foreword
"It's just not fair that we can't show everyone how much we care about each other," Donghae murmurs while looking down at his hands tangling the loose piece of thread in his fingers, "It's only normal that when you find someone you love and want to spend the rest of your life with, you get married to them. It's just not fair."
Hyukjae wore a sweet smile while listening to Donghae, reaching over to cup the younger's face in both his hands. Still smiling, he leans in as Donghae lifts his head only to be brought into a kiss; a kiss so light but still full of the love the elder felt for him. No matter how many times in the past numerous years they've done this, the small contact has Donghae's heart racing and his emotions running nothing short of blissful. After a moment, they separate and Hyukjae rests his forehead against Donghae's, wiping his thumb over the damp streak where his tears from earlier fell.
"Donghae, as long as you know that I love you and I know that you love me, we'll be ok. I promise we'll be ok."
"You really promise?" Donghae asks softly, nuzzling his cheek into his boyfriends palm and placing his own hand over his. Hyukjae smiles and glances around as an idea forms in his mind, one he hopes will prove his words to the younger and finally fulfill the one thing they have both been yearning for quite some time. Reaching over to his desk, he shuffles through an open drawer shortly before pulling out a pad of blank, yellow post-it notes.
"I know this isn't exactly how you expected this to turn out," he says grabbing a pen from his desk and shuffling closer to the younger, offering him the pen. Donghae takes it with a questioning look on his face that quickly turns into an expression of joy with Hyukjae's next words accompanied by a peck on the hand holding the pen.
"Lee Donghae, will you marry me?"
