“Let’s go shopping tomorrow,” Minseok said over dinner. Hyerin looked up from her plate. “We have a Christmas ball to attend for the hospital,” he explained, “So we have to get a gown for you. We can celebrate our holidays and then shop for our parents.”

--Flashback--

Minseok sat silently in the car. “Eric.”

“Yes sir?”

“You have a girlfriend, right?”

“Sir?”

“Have you had a girlfriend before?”

“Yes, sir.”

“What did you do for your girlfriend for Christmas?”

“I brought her out for a date? We had dinner and went into the city for a walk to see the lights.”

“I see,” Minseok said. Shall I bring her out for a dinner? Is that too casual? I don’t do dinners. Wait. Why am I putting so much effort into this?

“May I suggest something, sir?” Eric interrupted. “Go on,” he replied.

“Sir, you have a ball on Christmas Eve with the hospital board,” Eric reminded. Right, Minseok said to himself. “Maybe you can bring her out to find the dress together. Perhaps, you could shop together for Master’s and Mistress’s gifts.”

Minseok nodded with a pout in understanding. He could hold off shopping for his parent’s present until Saturday then. Eric always seemed to know the right things. “Thanks,” Minseok said.

Hyerin was shocked. They barely spent anytime together and he suddenly suggested shopping. “Ok,” she said slowly and continued eating. Also, she had already bought gifts for his parents. But with an opportunity for an outing with Minseok, she wouldn’t mind shopping again.

While Minseok was in the bathroom, Hyerin sped through her wardrobe. She wanted to pick something out for tomorrow’s date… Was it a date? She settled on a dress and black leggings, accompanied by a pink coat and a white beret. Hearing the shower turn off, Hyerin quickly ran back onto their bed and tucked herself in under the covers. Her eyes shut, she waited until the room lights were off before she opened her eyes and relaxed her body. She tried her best to fall asleep.

The next day, Minseok came down to breakfast earlier than Hyerin –an unusual occurrence. After 20 minutes, Hyerin came down with her pink coat. Butler Song smiled and bowed to the missus, “Good morning, young mistress.” “What took you so long?” Minseok asked. Butler Song looked at him in shock, afraid that his master would offend his mistress unconsciously. Hyerin stuttered as she answered that she was getting ready. Minseok nodded and resumed eating. The butler couldn’t help but frown that his master hadn’t been able to tell that she took so long for him.

After breakfast, the couple headed out. “Enjoy your day, madam,” Butler Song said to Hyerin. She smiled gratefully. Eric drove them to the boutique where the staff was waiting for their arrival. Minseok stood at a side while Hyerin looked through the gowns. He couldn’t help but smile as she marveled in the colors and cuts. Picking out a few, she went to try them on.

Minseok sat down on the couch while waiting for Hyerin. After a while, she stepped out of the closet excitedly
