That night, Chanyeol turned the house upside down. He checked in his bed where Baekhyun usually slept, he looked in the closet, under the bed, in cabinets, and literally everywhere. As he was looking, he kept calling Baekhyun’s name, but got no answer. Sitting on the couch, Chanyeol had given up. Going over his entire house had been exhausting and time consuming. The last place he checked was the little bed he had made the night he had taken the boy home, but he wasn’t there either.

Baekhyun heard Chanyeol call his name, and although he wanted to spring into Chanyeol’s arms, he refrained from doing so. He was upset and angry at Chanyeol and seeing him wouldn’t help. Once calmed down more, Baekhyun poked his head from the sheets and cocked his head to the side, listening with his ears perked up. Although the door was closed, he could hear a muffled sob. The only other one in the house was Chanyeol. Baekhyun frowned. Chanyeol is crying? But why?

At first, Baekhyun hesitated to go and check, but he knew something was wrong and slowly poked his head out of the computer room. The sobs got louder as he made his way down the hall. Once he reached the couch, he saw Chanyeol sitting with his elbows resting on his knees and he was continually wiping his face. Quietly, Baekhyun clambered onto the couch and wrapped his arms around Chanyeol who lifted his head from his hands and looked at him.

Baekhyun? He choked out.

Chanyeol, I sorry. Baekhyun mumbled. No cry.

I thought you had left, or something else just as horrible. Chanyeol turned his body and enveloped the boy in his embrace. Baekhyun hugged him back just as tightly, now guilty for acting so rude and making Chanyeol worry.

I thought Chanyeol mad at me.

Of course not. I could never be mad at you. I’m sorry, I wasn’t being myself.

I love Chanyeol. Baekhyun mumbled and rested his head on Chanyeol’s chest, feeling it rise and fall steadily. Against his leg, Chanyeol could feel Baekhyun’s tail just barely swishing back and forth.

I love you too, Baekhyun.
