A flake of cold, icy snow.

That is all I remember. Colors had swirled and bled into each other, the bite of the burn crawling through my skin faded just for that one, fragment of a memory, a flash of the past, a vital last beat of my own heart.

How could I not have seen it? It had been right in front of my face for years and years, it was in the tremor of her voice, the soul of her breath, every vital last beat of her heart.

And I was so blind to it all. Blind to the light. Blind to the darkness. Blind to the deepest emotions of someone so close to me, yet so far away at the same time.

And now, I can never be saved.
