Chapter 5

Will You?

Chu Ga Eul stood restlessly in front of her house gate, her fingers curled into a fist, blew out a good amount of air as a way to fight her unending nervousness. YiJeong will be reaching anytime soon and they will be going for their first real date ever, and GaEul couldn't help but panic at even the slightest thought it.

''GaEul-yang'' YiJeong's voice startled GaEul who didn't hear the sound of the Lotus's roaring engine due to her extreme depth of unnecessary thought. She smiled awkwardly as she slid into the car, and she couldn't get herself to speak normally throughout the whole journey. YiJeong was wearing a white Polo shirt completed with black skinny jeans, and his sweet scented perfume was a tad bit 'loud' which forced GaEul to increase the strength of her wall of self control, trying hard to restrain her raging heartbeat which was directly connected to her sense of smell.

''We're here'' YiJeong announced before he leaned towards GaEul to click her seatbelt free.

''Two adult tickets'' said YiJeong to the ticketing staff who looked like he was about to die from boredom.

''Here. I've got these. What's next?'' YiJeong flashed a bright smile, flapping the tickets on his hand. GaEul pointed to the main entrance where stood two penguin mascots, waving repeatedly towards the incoming visitors. Without any delay, YiJeong pulled GaEul's wrist, literally dragging her into the park, excited to experience his first visit to the commoner's entertainment locus.

''How about riding the roller coaster?'' YiJeong suggested. His eyes gleamed with enthusiasm while his fingers pointed to the 4 storey tall roller coaster station which somehow incited his inner child.

Seeing his adorable expressions brought a smile to GaEul's face. Her nervousness gradually plummeted as she saw his eyes wandered around the wide perimeter, making her wonder why in the world he never laid a step on this wonderful place called amusement park before.

''Is it really your first time here?'' GaEul asked as they strolled along the pavement leading to a Viking ride, ignoring the many stealthy eyes watching them.

''Well, you can say it that way'' he answered in a calm voice.

''You went to almost every place in the world but never to a theme park?'' GaEul smiled.

            ''I don't know, I prefer sightseeing''

''And girls hunting'' GaEul interjected, giggling to her own silly remarks.

''Well'' YiJeong cleared his throat uncomfortably. Being reminded about his indecent past was the last thing he wanted to hear at that moment.

''We should start with this'' GaEul pulled YiJeong's arm towards the Viking station as she started to get into the mood. She smiled ear to ear the whole ride, she enjoyed screaming her lungs out as the ship swung tremendously.

''Are you okay?'' GaEul asked YiJeong who was turning green as the aftermath of the horrifying first ride. ''Do you want to try that one?'' GaEul signed her eyes towards the roller coaster station which suddenly looked horrifying to him.

YiJeong shook his head repeatedly, not wanting to dig his own grave.

"Washroom. I think I need to use the washroom for a while" he tried to make it sound as natural as possible, not wanting to destroy his manly pride.

"Why? Do you feel unwell?" GaEul looked genuinely worried.

"No, I just, need to use it" he tried to smile despite the potent nauseous sensation attacking his gut.

"Are you for real? Because you don't look fine to me" she studied his face carefully while she led him to a mushroom shaped washroom building opposite the Viking station.

Yeah. I'm perfectly fine" he forced a grin before he made his way into the men's.       "Then, I'll be waiting here" GaEul signed to the nearest bench, her eyebrows furrowed for the suspicion she still had.

GaEul heaved a sigh before she seated herself on the wooden bench. She stared at the dried leaves scattered around her feet as she allowed herself to dive into her own thought again, and this time it was about how she might had made the wrong move by bringing the heir of the great Woo Sung museum to this place full of trifling commoner's activities, and judging by YiJeong’s gloomy expression, GaEul could tell that her assumption was totally accurate.

''Noona''a male voice suddenly called for GaEul, causing her to lift her head, waking her up from her deep thought.

''Noona. Is it really you?'' a tall young lad with mannequin-like figure approached GaEul.

"TaeMin ah!!" GaEul's dim expression rapidly changed into a happy yelp as she walked into the young man's embrace.

"Are you here with NaEun?" She asked as they released each other.

"No. I'm here with the others" he let out a genuine smile before signing his eyebrows towards his back.

"No way….." she grinned when she noticed the four tall figures walking steadily in her direction.

"Minho!!" she literally ran and jumped into a perfect proportioned, brown haired young man's hug.

"Noona!!" The four lads chanted spontaneously. They looked sincerely happy to see her.

"You guys. It has been seriously long" she giggled.

"You look surprisingly slimmer. Been reducing meat intake lately?" The blonde of the four guys who was holding a gigantic lollipop spoke.

"You jerk! Come here." she reached his head for a headlock, causing him to yelp for an escape. "Kim Ki Bum, can't you be nice to me for once?'' GaEul pretended to bawl as she released him from the agonizing lock.

"Ignore him” The shortest one with ash white hair said as he snatched the gigantic lollipop from the blonde's hand and handed the candy to GaEul."By the way, where's MinSeok-hyung?" he asked as he watch GaEul naturally took the candy from his hand.

"MinSeok is at home, of course" she answered nonchalantly.

"Then who are you with? As I could remember, you don’t have any other friend" asked the spicy mouthed KiBum.

GaEul hissed to his question but suddenly something struck GaEul. She immediately contemplated about what should be said. There were only two options, whether to break the news and receive never ending teasing from her juniors or to hide the truth and continue to live peacefully.

"I'm… Erhm, "she rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, still trying to decide on what should be said.

"She is here with me" YiJeong who suddenly loomed out of nowhere interjected. He s his right arm over GaEul's shoulders, pulling her closer until her head met his chest

"Sunbae" GaEul's eyes perplexed, her cheek right away blush a rosy shade.

"Aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?" he asked, his arm was still holding her tight.

GaEul stayed petrified for a while before she could actually open .

"Sunbae" she gazed at YiJeong who was wearing his sweetest smile.

"Sunbae, this is MinHo, TaeMin, KiBum, JongHyun and JinKi" she finally pointed modestly to the respective person after a moment of hesitation.

"They are my academy juniors” she continued. "Guys, this is. . . ." she smiled shyly.

"I'm So Yi Jeong, GaEul's boyfriend" YiJeong interjected yet again.

There were seconds of dead, awkward silence surrounded them. GaEul stared, clueless, as her juniors exchanged short, curious look among each other.

"WAIT" KiBum, the frank and noisy looking blonde suddenly yelped.

"Oh my God, aren't you that So Yi Jeong, the pottery emperor?" KiBum turned really excited.

YiJeong simply nodded, he looked so used to that kind of question.

"Oh my God, I'm seriously a fan" he moved forward, face beaming in awe.

"I'm Kim Ki Beom. A senior art education student" he extended his hand, aiming for a handshake. YiJeong forced his usual smile before he received the friendly gesture.

"We are going for lunch. Would you like to join us?" KiBum asked without hesitation. His abrupt request earned him a bewildered looks from the other four, which probably question his ignorance towards the now dating couple. But unlike her four juniors, GaEul threw YiJeong a look full of hope, an expression which looked so much like a puppy begging her owner for food. It had been almost a year since she last met them, and she couldn’t contain her desire to keep up to the close juniors of her.

“Please?” asked KiBum once again which eventually earned him a secret pinch somewhere from behind him.

“Okay” YiJeong reluctantly agreed to the request, just to see GaEul smiled a broad grin, exhibiting her deliriousness. As time passed, he began to regret his codswallop decision, looking at how uncomfortable the situation was heading. GaEul walked few paces in front of him, mingling happily with her four juniors, while he had to walk alongside the blonde chatterbox KiBum who couldn't seem to stop talking and asking questions from the moment they left the mushroom building.

"It was the EJ piece" YiJeong wore a smiley expression while answering KiBum's unending query about his pottery career. That was actually about all, only his mouth was actively responding but every other part of his body unconsciously stayed on guard. His eyes were fixed on his petite girlfriend who now was linking arm with the tall MinHo guy, his ears were literally opened wide in order to penetrate their conversations, and his heart, even he himself don't understand why it was pounding so hard. And YiJeong basically stayed in that chastising condition until they reached a fancy eatery where the waitress dressed like anime characters.

YiJeong barely, and not to mention finally, escaped GaEul's chatterer junior by choosing the seat at the small edge of the square table, after successfully squeezing himself between GaEul and the ash-white haired guy.

"Noona. What do you want to eat? Kimchi stew?"

"Noona. Chocolate shake here is seriously an all kill"

"Noona. You still like rolled egg right?"

Noona this, noona that.

YiJeong slowly felt himself being consumed with frustration and aggravation. He knew it was not appropriate to be absorbed in his own feeling of exasperation when GaEul was having a good time with her acquaintances, but it was out of his control. He couldn't believe how uncool he was for feeling uncomfortable around people, which wasn't himself at all, but he couldn't help but felt sick to his stomach as he watch her laugh deliriously at their non-funny jokes, adding the fact that he still felt the stomach discomfort after a bucket full of sick he had vomited out at the toilet not long ago due to the terrifying ride.

"So, how did you meet GaEul noona?" KiBum uttered, which brought everyone's attention towards the conversation.

YiJeong slightly shook his head at his question as he wondered if GaEul hadn't told them anything about himself at all, unlike how she had bragged to the kindergarten kids.

"Well, somehow we met" GaEul answered instead. She immediately took a slow sip of her iced Americano to hide her blushing cheeks.

"His taste sure became strange after Sweden" said KiBum simply.

"YOU. Keep your mouth shut" GaEul hissed and rolled her eyes.

"The girls he dated were pretty" KiBum continued his alleged mocking as if YiJeong wasn't there.

"What do you mean by that?" GaEul said nonchalantly before she popped a jelly cherry into .

     "You are ugly“

     "Not"

     "Yes you are"

"YOU" GaEul jokingly threw a crumpled tissue paper at him before she continued to eat her ice cream like she heard nothing.

"Sunbae. Do you want to try this?” GaEul pushed the bowl of fruity desert towards YiJeong.

“No. You know what? Can you excuse me for a moment?" YiJeong shrugged before storming his way out of the cafe. His pace slowed down as he finally got out of the traditional eatery, his mouth let out a regretful hiss. He seriously did not know what was wrong with him, the only thing he knew was that he felt a disturbing amount of frivolous rage creeping on him, and the only way of reducing the symptom was to escape. At this moment, YiJeong wished he do smoke for the sole reason that at least he would have a decent method of clearing the random concerns that was fogging his mind.

"Sunbae" GaEul's soft voice nearly made him jump off his feet.

What is she doing here?

"Is something wrong?" she asked, pure concern displayed on her face.

Yes, something must be wrong with me.

"No, I'm just, I need some air" YiJeong lied. He leaned against the red brick wall of the cafe.

"Do you feel uncomfortable somewhere?”  GaEul continued to ask.

I thought you didn't realize.

"No. I feel fine" he lied again.

"Is it because of the ride?" her questions seemed to have no end. "I know, because I felt the same way when I first rode it too" she smiled slightly.

If YiJeong was to drink something at that moment, he would have died of choking after hearing her unexpected remarks.

Not that, you silly.

This time YiJeong spoke no reply as he was actually at lost for words.

"We can actually just go back if you really feel unwell” GaEul went on with her assumption parade, having not even a slight idea of YiJeong's real, ridden with rage feeling. Upon hearing her, YiJeong's annoyance once again reached its peak.

"I'm sorry I brought you here. I think this place would only suits commoners anyway" she walked slowly before she leaned on the wall, next to YiJeong.

YiJeong closed his eyes as he inhaled a deep breath. He wished she could stop talking and expressing her diverted assumption. He knew something was bothering him but he was sure it wasn't the ride, or this place.

Maybe it was your unintentionally rude junior.

And how he had blurt out pernicious comment about you and you allegedly did not care about it.

Today was supposed to be our date, alone.

But then it turned out to be a clamorous kerfuffle, thanks to your juniors.

YiJeong's mind was filled with thought and he really needed to be alone but GaEul seems to be absorbed in her meaningless chattering.

"Sunbae" her sudden, raised voice set YiJeong over his limit. All he wanted now was for her to shut up so he unconsciously turned his body her way, cupped her face and lodged his face forward to pursue her lips, at first to keep it shut, but then he detected fruity scent lingering around his sense of smell. Intoxication started to engulf him as he kissed her moist, strawberry scented lips. The kiss which he started with full force gradually turned soft and hesitating as reality started to struck him, that it was GaEul who he was kissing, and it was their first and then he started to wonder if GaEul freaked herself out at his sudden intervention.

But he couldn't bring himself to care more as the kiss became more addicting, leaning to the fact that GaEul didn't give any negative respond. YiJeong nibbled gently on her lower lip, earning him a firm grasp on his arms. His mind went completely blank as if all four years worth of longing were transmitted through their adhered lips.

At the same time, GaEul who just received the shock of her life couldn't seem to control her reaction. She went from a state of flabbergast to a moment of realization that YiJeong was giving her the first passionate kiss of her life. Her eyes fluttered before shutting itself while her lips petrified, not knowing how to respond to his fervent kiss. And when she thought he was going to stop, she was totally wrong. Her breath hitched as he nibbled on her lower lips, her knees went absolutely weak, which forced her to cling on his arms for support.

YiJeong finally pulled back after a long moment, both of them gasped for air, oblivious to the stare and attentions from the passersby.

"Chu Ga Eul" YiJeong could hardly speak.

"Eung?" only a hardly audible squeak came out of .

            "Stop it" he uttered softly.

"Huh?" GaEul who was still immersed in the state of shock murmured.

"You're driving me crazy" YiJeong whispered. His ambiguous thought gradually became clearer as he eventually apprehended the thing that has been bothering him.

"Sunbae…. "GaEul's eyes opened wide, her face still red from his sudden exhibition of affection.

YiJeong smirked and stared at her in awe. How did a plain Jane whom he once hated successfully inflicted a very high level sense of possession into him to the extent that it was nearly uncontrollable?

“Chu Ga Eul.” He placed his palms on the wall, trapping GaEul with his arms. “Do you even know that you are mine?” YiJeong stared directly into her eyes, slowly closing the gap between them.

GaEul who was overwhelmed nodded slightly.

“GOOD” YiJeong grinned before pulling his arms out of her way. “We should go in, I’m starting to get hungry” he cheerily walked towards the café’s front door, oblivious of GaEul who was in a state of an absolute mental breakdown. She locked her eyes on YiJeong, watching him walk his way into the café while trying to calm her raging heartbeat down.

What actually just happened? She asked herself. Something is wrong with him, isn’t he? She mumbled alone. She spent the rest few minutes zooning out to the space and back before she realized that her juniors were still inside, and it would be pretty out of manner to leave them like that. So she braced herself to move her legs that were still shaking and made her steps into the café.

She was seating herself awkwardly when she caught a glance of YiJeong who was eating his plate of spaghetti with a horrible sheepish grin worn on his face.

“Where did you go that took you so long?” KiBum asked the moment her touched the cushion of the expensive looking wooden chair.

“I…” GaEul paused as she had no idea of what to be said. Her eyes perplexed as she gulped down her Iced Americano to cool herself down.

“And what’s with your lipstick, it is smeared all over your face” he continued his comment, and as expected, GaEul nearly choked on her drink upon hearing his honest mention. Her face started to blush all over again as all eyes were set on her. GaEul’s brain started working on thinking of some excuses to be presented to her loquacious junior.

“Well, I...” GaEul stuttered.

“Want me to reenact it for you? What we just did.” YiJeong nonchalantly interjected, nearly erupting chaos to the small gathering. JinKi and Minho cleared their throat awkwardly, TaeMin stared at the ceiling like he wanted to bore holes on it, JongHyun pretended to fix his front hair when there was nothing wrong with it, and KiBum had his jaw opened it almost reached the floor, while GaEul widen her eyes in disbelieve.

Her eyes shouted ARE YOU CRAZY to him while he was the only relaxed person on the table. He responded with a SO WHAT WE ARE COUPLE ANYWAYS look but was tossed back with a YOU ARE MAD hiss. The rest of the lunch time turn into an awkward mode courtesy to So Yi Jeong who in GaEul’s opinion, was acting all weird and wasn’t himself the whole freaking day.

GaEul remained silent even when YiJeong’s orange Lotus reached her house. She was annoyed with things he just did. Did he allegedly tried to embarrass her in front of her juniors?

“Are you still mad?” YiJeong who detected her sulky behavior asked with a grin as he clicked her seatbelt free.

GaEul didn’t respond to his question.

“Come on. Are you not going to talk to me?” he looked at her with a pout.

“Was it funny? Did you thought of humiliating me in front of them as a joke?” she snapped.

YiJeong was shocked at her mention. He had never meant it that way, he never had even the slightest intention on doing that. “No, it wasn’t that…” YiJeong uttered.

“Then what? What they will see me as after this?” GaEul bawled.

“GaEul, I”

“Sunbae. I thought you have changed” she strictly said.

“I felt threatened.” YiJeong blurted out. “Seeing you with a bunch of other good looking guys ticked me off. I’m sorry. I wasn’t in my right mind”

His answer shut her off. Suddenly the feeling of guilt crept up her shoulder slowly.

“Why should you feel that way, they were my juniors” her voice became less audible.

“I don’t know, I just. I’m sorry, I should’ve asked permission before doing that to you” he replied, referring to the feverish first kiss they shared earlier.

GaEul could only sigh at their conversation. If only she didn’t just made her own assumption that way. She still has this inevitable feeling that she could not trust him, not yet. Though she liked the kiss, though she liked everything about him, but there was this barrier that kept herself away from him. She wanted to trust him, but the scene of YiJeong manipulating her for the sake of revenge to his father was still intact in her mind.

She wanted to forget.

But can she ever do that?
