VOLUME LIX: Hanging Tags

Dialogue from Heartbreaker Inc.

“I can’t do this anymore… CL doesn’t deserve this. I know she’s not guilty.” GD blurted out in a not so office friendly voice.

“He used his target’s first name.” Cyndi commented without looking away from her monitor.

“That’s never a good sign.” Hero added. He seem to only hear Cyndi’s voice while doing his daily crossword puzzle.

“Can you two look at me when you’re talking?” GD was like a little kid who needed all the attention.

“There’s no need.” Both Hero and Cyndi replied.

“At least tell me why I can’t call her by her name. I mean… she’s human too.”

“It shows your growing attachment and that has always turned out… how shall I put it…”

“Messy?”

“Yep, forgot you could read my mind.” Hero smiled at Cyndi who was now filing her nails.

“And you two never had these kind of problems?”

“We’re pros… and besides… I think we’re immune too.” Cyndi lifted her eyes and they immediately met Hero’s laughing ones. They looked at each other as if there was a cool secret only they knew.

“Why can’t I just turn down this job? Cyndi gets to do it when ever she feels like it.”

“She’s special. The director gives her privleges that we don’t have.”

“Easily put into plain words… I get to be picky while everyone else can’t.”

“Can’t we just say the job was done? Like make up proof…”

“You can’t fool the director.” Cyndi said.

“But if I could just…”

“You know what? Since I’m so generous, I’ll take the job off your hands. That way, you can shut up and stop whining. It is hella annoying.”

“No way! You’re a monster! … a… a.. ruthless bastard.”

Cyndi couldn’t help laughing at GD’s outburst.

“Hey… I’m helping you by allowing you to dump this job on me and you’re calling me names like a grade schooler?”

“How is this helping? I don’t want to hurt her and I definitely don’t want you to hurt her.”

“You two just shut up. I’ll talk to the director myself and take up this job on behalf of GD.”

Both Hero and GD looked at her aghast. What was she going to do?

“You’re going to make her fall for you? So confident…” Hero said with surprise.

“You think CL’s bi? What the heck?” GD was still in shock.

“You boys think it’s impossible for me? Well… you haven’t seen anything yet.” Cyndi looked hurt… in a sarcastic way.

“Well…” Hero scratched the back of his neck. He didn’t know what to think. She was capable of many things like breaking a heartbreaker’s heart.

“It is settled then. I want nothing more out of you, GD, on this matter.” She stared him down with those eyes full of power rendering him speechless. It didn’t make him worry any less…
