Otherside
Sykotica Preview Layouts“What are you looking at?” Calvin suddenly joined him.
“Well…” Hero pointed at the moving figures below and continued, “what do you see?”
Calvin glanced down and spotted the humans.
“Eh… they’re the “others,” don’t worry about them. Ey, what to go play basketball with the Archangels? Let’s try to win this time.”
Hero ignored Calvin. “If only they will grow another wing then they can fly and play with us.”
“Ey, that won’t happen, okay? We are us and they are the “others.” I’m gonna go now. This is kinda boring me. If you want to join us, just come to the western gates.”
Calvin left shaking his head. Why was Hero worrying himself over the others? It when way beyond his comprehension.
Hero continued watching them with interest. Some crawled, some walked, some tried jumping for the skies…
He paid close attention to the jumping one winged angel. She had her brownish black hair in a bun on top of her head. Though she was small, she had the most beautiful one wing he had ever seen. It glistened, catching every ray of light from the sun. Was she trying to fly? Maybe if he helped her, she could learn how to, then she could…
Hero leaned forward and was about to leave the safety of the clouds when someone from behind held him back.
“Where do you think you’re going, boy?” the voice boomed in his ears.
Hero turned and found himself face to face with Archangel Raphael.
“I was just going to-”
“You know if you fall, it will be hard to get back up. Wouldn’t you rather not fall, dear boy?”
“But, sir… I just saw a one winged angel trying to-”
“Let us forget all about this and join in with the others. I hear that there’s a basketball game going down near the western gates.” Archangel Raphael was about to walk away just like Calvin did early except something stopped him. He had an idea…. a really super crazy one.
“On second thought, since you’re so persistent…” Archangel Raphael gave Hero a push. Before Hero knew what happened, he was already halfway down to earth.
Oh no… what was he going to do now?
Meanwhile, on Earth, the small, jumping, one winged angel was still jumping up and down as if she wanted to leave the ground and fly. Eh. Not really. She was just trying to retrieve her favorite canva shoes. The others stood around laughing and teasing. They were the ones who took off her shoes, tied the laces, and flung them up into the tree. From their point of view, it was funny watching the petite girl jump up and fail every time.
Cyndi watched her shoes dangle helplessly in the wind. Only a few more inches, she thought. It would have been much easier if she could fly but that was impossible, right?
