Kyungsoo tongue was trapped between his teeth, peeking out from between his lips as his eyebrows furrowed in concentration. The whisk span around the bowl neatly, whipping the contents until it reached a consistency the cook was happy with. Luhan was stood nearby, bending to retrieve a batch of freshly baked cookies from the oven whilst Yixing was moving a cooled batch onto a plate, making room for the batch fresh from the oven.
There was a resounding slap that echoed through the kitchen as Kyungsoo deftly swiped the spatula he had been using to spread the icing on the cake they had finished earlier, rapping it across the knuckles of the hand that snuck along the table.
“That'll teach you to steal the cookies, Jongin,” Kyungsoo waved the spatula warningly, though his eyes softened at the light pout on Kai's lips, his messed up hair and the little furry cat ears that he had taken to wearing since the day before yesterday.
Kyungsoo couldn't stay mad at him – feigned or not – when he looked so damn adorable with those stupid things on.
“You can have some later,” he shooed the dancer from the kitchen, not noticing he had brought a little visitor with him until the kitten thwapped a cookie off the plate, pounced on it and skidded across the counter on it as though it was some weird snowboard.
“You little monster,” Kyungsoo couldn't help but chuckle as he retrieved his little kitten and prodded her nose lightly. The kit mewled softly and pawed at the air, until Kyungsoo set her against his chest where she nuzzled into him. “What shall we call you?”
Tao had been watching silently from the doorway, arms folded over his chest. “Cookie.”
Before Kyungsoo had even registered he had been there, the martial artist had disappeared. “Cookie? Do you like that name? Shall we call you Cookie?”
The kitten purred, Kyungsoo's finger scratching the top of her head and behind her ears.
“I think she's happy with it,” Luhan grinned, setting a new batch of cookies onto the tray and sliding them into the oven whilst Yixing put the others on the side to cool.
With the last of the cookies in the oven, the three played with the kitchen on the floor for a good twenty minutes until they were done and added to the rest. Kyungsoo then led the way into the living room, carrying Cookie against his where the kitten yawned and fell asleep with her nose tucked into his hand. The singer snuck into Jongins' lap, surprising the dancer with the sudden weight and snapping him out of his near doze.
Coffee was nuzzled into his leg at his thigh, but the pup looked up and yawned sleepily at the arrival of his 'mother', stretching and climbing over his father to leap – and miss – into Kyungsoo's lap. Jongin picked him up and placed him on Kyungsoo's thigh where he promptly curled up beside Cookie.
“Thought of a name for her yet?”
Tao grinned from his perch on Kris' lap.
“Cookie?” Jongin questioned. “What made you come up with that?”
“She decided to follow in the footsteps of her father – who, by the way, is a very bad influence on the children – and stole a cookie... and turned it into a skateboard in the process. Plus Tao.”
“That's my girl,” the dancer grinned cheekily.
Kyungsoo gave him a playful elbow to the ribs before sneaking the cat ears off his head. “Why are you still wearing these, anyway?”
“Because you can't say no to me when I wear them.”
Kyungsoo rolled his eyes and perched the ears in his own hair, turning his face to Jongin. “And you'd be able to say no to me?”
Words failed Jongin then and he chewed on his bottom lip, saved from having to answer when Kyungsoo leant forwards and claimed his lips. “Didn't think so,” the devious owl purred against his lower lip, smirking.
Over in the other corner, Luhan was leant against Sehun's chest, their fingers intertwined. The dancer pecked the top of his partner's head and smiled softly when Luhan peered up to look at him questioningly.
“What?” Sehun asked innocently.
“You're affectionate today.”
“Aren't I always?”
“More so today.”
“What can I say... Christmas just brings it out of me. And the fact I get to spend it with you just makes it even better.”
“You won't be saying that later.”
Luhan slapped his stomach and went back to resting his head against his chest, nodding into a doze with a smile turning the corners of his lips.
Kris toyed with Tao's hands, playing with his fingers, frowning when the other rapper started to make that difficult by twirling them around with a playful grin on his face.
“You little rogue,” Kris mock frowned, grabbing his hands between his larger ones and holding them still, kissing each fingertip softly.
“And you're just a big softy dragon.”
“Oh, I am, am I?”
Tao smirked; Kris mirrored it before he pinned the shorter to the armrest and attacked his face with aggressive kisses, pulling away from his mouth just before touching lips. Tao whined and Kris rose from the sofa, grinning evilly before he stalked off down the hallway.
There was a muttered oath from Tao; a blur as he streaked after Kris and a deep rumble of laughter from the hallway before a door slammed shut and something hit the floor behind it. The others rolled their eyes and Sehun subtly turned up the volume of the television they were all 'watching' but not really paying attention to. Now it was just necessary – louder than it needed to be normally – background noise.
Jongdae wrapped his arms tighter around Minseok who was sat between his thighs on the floor, back pressed against the younger's chest. The singer had his head rested on his shoulder and he kept whispering into the olders' ear, causing him to flush a rosy pink which fortunately went unseen by the others who were all too focused on each other to notice anyone around them.
“I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need. I don't care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree~”
“Jongdae, stop it.”
“I just want you for my own. More than you could ever know. Make my wish come true. All I want for Christmas – is you~”
“I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need. I don't care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree. I don't need to hang my stocking, there upon the fireplace. Santa Claus won't make me happy, with a toy on Christmas day~ Well, unless you're dressed as santa and it's a different kind of -”
Minseok shut him up by turning around and swallowing his words with a forceful kiss. When he pulled away, red cheeked and breathless, Jongdae grinned.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby~~”
The dancer glanced down at the leader laid against his shoulder as he glanced upwards, smiling. “I love you.”
Yixing couldn't help but return his smile, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead and pulling him tighter to him. “I love you too.”
Junmyeon had one earbud in and he hummed along to his music as he rested his head back down, fidgeting just a little in Yixing's arms. Fingers traced up and down the leader's bare arm as Yixing's eyes closed, basking the warmth of having Junmyeon so close.
“Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh,” Junmyeon sang along and Yixing couldn't suppress the little chuckle that rose in his throat. “If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it~”
“I thought I did?” Yixing smirked when Junmyeon's head tilted back, eyes smiling as the younger's fingers moved to his left hand, interlocking their fingers.
“Yes, yes you did,” the leader purred in agreement, meeting Yixing's eager kiss with enthusiasm, all but straddling his lap in the process.
Yixing his cheek as they broke apart, standing and lifting Junmyeon with him. Baekhyun and Chanyeol watched as they disappeared down the hall and another door was slammed closed.
“What is wrong with everyone?” Chanyeol tilted his head.
“We're all just feeling overly affectionate, I guess.”
Chanyeol didn't miss the challenge in Baekhyun's eyes and he answered it with a wide grin, tugging the smaller to him, light circles against his back. “You're still sick, baby.”
Baekhyun let out a derisive snort. “What happened to cooties not scaring you away.”
“Ohhh, touché, Mr Byun.”
Baekhyun slapped his shoulder. “You're an idiot.”
“I'm your idiot.”
“Yes, yes you are.”
Over on the couch, a kitten and puppy had fallen off Kyungsoo's lap when their umma and appa had decided to wage war on each other with their mouths. Cookie at Coffee's face as the pup rested his head against his paws. Once she was satisfied he was sufficiently bathed, the little white kitten rested her chin on his back, shuffling closer to him, purring them both into dreamland.
