It was finally mid-June. There were exactly two minutes left and summer break will be official. It’s been a rough month but I managed to get through it.

“Plans for the summer?” Haeryung smiles at me, she ended up taking my side when the whole scandal was happening. She only felt bad because she didn’t want to tell me what everyone else wasn’t afraid to say.

I smile “Just hang out” This time around my summer wasn’t going to be run by a schedule, I wasn’t going to have any planners or lessons, just do things freely with my friends.

She nods “With Lay?”

I chuckle “Yeah, he’s actually going to have a few people over at his lake house this weekend, you and Ryu should definitely come.”

“That would be fun” She nods

I push my hair back intending to look at Lay but my gaze goes over to the boy next to him. Sehun was looking out the window but his cold brown eyes catch mine and instead of me looking away, they stayed locked down to his and my heart panicked.

I knew he didn’t care about me and with everything that has happened I was still stupid for being in love with him. Sometimes I couldn’t understand why my heart still belonged to that idiot when I was nothing but a game to him.

He his lips and looks away giving me a dirty look. My eyes meet the ground as I stopped my feelings from resurfacing. I had to keep in mind that I was nothing to him, nothing but a bet. So in order to push my feelings, that’s what I needed to remind myself, that I was a bet. Maybe the summer will help me forget him and it would be easier since I won’t be forced to see him as I would in school. I convince myself that this will be a good thing.

Saerin was hooked around my arm as we walked to the school’s parking lot along with the rest of the students who were rowdy from the excitement that school was over for two months.

“Where’s Kyungri?” I ask

She sighs “Tao wanted to talk to her.”

I nod “If he’s been trying to get things back together with her then that should say something. It just shows that he always genuinely liked her.”

“Who knows, maybe they planned that too.”

“Didn’t we agree we were going to let that go?”

She rolls her eyes “It’s obvious you haven’t. Any chance you got to stare at the face you would and don’t deny it because I’ve caught you.”

“I don’t—”

She playfully cuts me off “Save it Hayoung. I don’t understand how you can have a soft spot for him? You have Lay who obviously likes you, why don’t you give him a chance?”

“He’s a great friend” I smile

“Who you’re attracted too”

“He’s cute” I chuckle “But I’m not sure if I have feelings for him”

She sighs “That’s because you’re not allowing yourself to.”

“I would know if I was hiding my feelings”

She nods “You are, but not towards Lay.”

My eyes go over to Chanyeol and Kai who I spot walking with Sehun. She stares at what I’m paying attention to and I knew she wouldn’t be pleased about it.

She scoffs in disgust “Why Hayoung? Why do you still love him?” She throws her head back

As I stared I wondered the same thing I always did every night. How is it that I’m still madly in love with someone that doesn’t feel the same way? I shake my head because from now on there shouldn’t be anything to convince me to move on and to let him go. It’s finalized.

I was placing my shoes on when I heard a knock on my door

“Come in”

The door opens and Sumi smiles at me

“A very attractive young man is waiting for you downstairs”

I smile “Thank you”

I get up to walk to my dresser and look at myself one more time in the mirror before meeting Lay downstairs. I didn’t have to fix anything so I grabbed my bag to go ahead and walk out.

“Is he the one you bought that bracelet for?”

My steps slow down to her question as she waited for me at my door.

“No” I shortly reply and step out as she closes my door behind us.

We walk down the hallway and she respected my answer by not asking anything else.

“Well,” She smiles “looking at the boy downstairs took me by surprise, it made me wish I was your age again.”

We share a laugh

“He’s one lucky guy going out with someone as precious as you, my little Hayoung”

“We’re just friends”

“That’s how it always starts off” She winks

We reached the edge of the stairs and Sumi walks down behind me. I notice Lay looked really nice with his outfit choice, making me smile when I notice his dimple appear.

“You know your father’s rule Hayoung” Sumi’s voice makes me look behind my shoulder “No later than ten when you’re out with a boy.”

I nod

She continues “But your father isn’t here this week, which puts me in charge and I’ll make it no later past midnight”

I couldn’t help but to chuckle under my breath

She bows at both of us “Drive safely and come back safe”

I smile “Thanks Sumi”

“Have fun you two”

Lay bows “I’ll have her back by ten” He smiles

I take his wrist and drag him out the front door.

I smile “She lets me out late but you want to bring be earlier?”

He chuckles “It’s your father’s rule. I don’t want to disrespect his authority”

I roll my eyes as I smiled “He won’t be around to know we’re breaking his rule”

We reach his car and instead of my butler opening the door, Lay reaches the door handle

“Don’t worry, I got it” He smiles and politely bows at him

It took me by surprise. Not because I wasn’t used to it, I just wasn’t accustomed for a guy to do it for me. I smile and got in the passenger seat, watching Lay walk in front of the car, bowing and thanking all my employees. I couldn’t help but to crack a smile, making me respect and admire him so much more than I already did.

“Where are we going?” I ask once he gets behind the wheel

He turns over at me with nothing but a smile and turns his car keys over to start the car.
