Old times.

Love Medicine.

There was once a time when Jinah felt the entire world was out to get her. It was a time when everything seemed to spin so fast she was scared she would get lost in the midst of it all.

Looking back at it today she could smile because she knew even through everything there was still these small, yet significant moments that were worth all the tears and pain.

She could feel light radiating from her and she couldn’t hide her happiness which elope her from head to toe.

“Look at that bastard. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this happy.” Baekhyun said from beside her. Jinah couldn’t help but smile contently in agreement.

“It’s everything he’s ever wanted. I’m happy he found her.” She responded, not taking her eyes away from the newlyweds dancing in the middle of the room. Who would had known Jinah would be the one bringing Luhan and his wife together.

Who would have thought that the girl who introduced herself to Jinah on the first day of their Psychology class would eventually become, not only one of Jinah’s closest friends, but Luhan’s wife as well?

It was a funny thing how life works sometimes. Wasn’t that the point though, that life has this funny, ed up way of connecting all these random points in our lives and making them not-so-random. Then it makes you wonder if anything in life was really random, or was it all up to fate.

That is if you believe in fate. Does fate really tie everything together? Does it have this mystical way of making every wrong turn in our lives the right one? Did it lead her to where she was today? Or was it the entire universe’s messed up way of being the universe.

“Yeah, he does deserve it. He found someone who loves him as much as he loves her.” Baekhyun added lightly.

“Maybe one day you can find that too.” Jinah commented softly, her eyes didn’t leave the couple on the dance floor. She also didn’t notice the quick look her best friend gave her.

“Come on.” Baekhyun said standing up from the chair he was sitting in. They were placed at the table closest to the bride and groom’s table. Everybody who was supposed to be at the table was mingling around or dancing like Kahi and her husband of three years. The only two who were at the table in the end were Jinah and Baekhyun.

Baekhyun stood up next to her and like a true gentlemen he held out his hand, waiting for her to accept it.

“A beautiful girl deserves to dance.” He said lightly. Jinah couldn’t help but smile at his comment and accepted his gesture.

“When did you get so good with words?” She questioned as he lead her to the dance floor.

“I’ve always been.” He answered cockily which caused her to laugh in response. Before she could respond however he took her hand and spun her around. She giggled in response before he brought her close to him and gentle put his hands on her waist while she hooked her arms around his neck.

“I missed hearing you laugh.” He revealed.

“I missed you.” She replied. “It’s been a while hasn’t it.” She added.

“Yeah it has.”

“It has been seven years.”

“I know, I did count the years.”

“Can you wait another seven years?” Jinah asked. Baekhyun didn’t reply right away but she could tell he was thinking.

Jinah could tell there was something bubbling inside that head of his. She could tell there was something he wanted to ask her but was too nervous or uncertain on how to ask her. After a moment of silence be finally spoke, “are you happy Jinah?”

She didn’t need to think about it before she replied, “Yes. I am happy, the happiest I have ever been.”

“That’s a shame then.” He unexpectedly replied. She narrowed her brows in utter confusion. What did he mean by that?

“If you’re happy then I can’t keep you here can I?” He added. “If you’re happy then you should go do what makes you happy. Believe it or not Jinah, your happiness matters.” He said and his words really did hit her, like they always did.

“I know, I’ve known for a long time now.” She said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“No, I really mean it. People like you Jinah, you put others before yourself. You only think of others and you forget along the way that your feelings matter as well. You are the type of person who should get everything she deserves, and you deserve it all.”

“That’s the thing though, what is it that I deserve? All I know is that right now I am happy, and that’s all I really care about.” She said.

“Then that’s all I care about too.” He responded. “And I hope you remember that no matter where you go Jinah, I’m still here waiting for you.”

“Oh really,” She said jokingly, “and why in the world would you do that?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

“No.”

“It’s because no matter what happens in life, we will always be best friends.” He commented and she couldn’t help but smile.

“Thank you Baek, for being my best friend.” She whispered to him.

“No. Thank you for loving me even when I was too blind to see it.” He whispered back.

“Thank you for letting me go.” She said in the softest and gentlest tone she could. “Thank you for making me happy.”

“You didn’t leave because you didn’t love me enough. You left because you loved yourself too much to stay.” He said and they both knew he was right.

“I left because I was simply bored with the idea of loving you.” She joked. He just flicked her forehead in response.

“So when are you leaving?”

“Who said that I was leaving?” She replied with a knowing smile.

“So you’re staying?” He questioned as his eyes glowed in delight.

“I miss home, I miss the ice cream and chocolate at 2am, I miss Luhan and Kahi, and I miss you.”

“I’m not going to keep you from staying if you don’t want to.”

“But I’m not staying for you. I’m staying for me”

“Good,” he responded, “So best friend, ice cream and chocolate tomorrow?”

“Of course.” She answered back with a smile, "just like old times."
