INFORMATION

First off, I want to stress that I prefer you writing with the groups/celebrities you are most comfortable writing about. This is not a cheat sheet. I don't like restricting people's creative freedom. This list exists because the majority of you wanted it, but honestly, I really don't mind reading about groups I don't know. Yes, it does make it harder to visualize the characters in my head, but if you have well-written characters and a good plot, that shouldn't be a problem. After all, most published works rely on original characters that are brought to life on the page and I mostly read OC x Idol stories anyway. If you don't want to use my biases, that's totally okay with me because I'm judging your writing, not the actual idols. At the end of the day, bonus points don't matter as much as the content of your story. Please don't feel pressured to write about my biases. Write about yours.

 

As you'll see below, I'm a second-generation fan. I got into K-Pop at the end of 2009 when Beast debuted. I do have a backlog of groups I plan to begin stanning, but for me, it's a long process to become a group's fan. This list will be updated from time to time, so do check back every so often to see who I add to the list. In regards to former members of groups (i.e. Jay Park from 2PM, Jessica Jung from SNSD, etc.), you can still write about them because I still follow them, especially if they are soloists and/or actors now. I didn't put them down, because the list would become unnecessarily long. Go ahead and write about them if you wish; you'll still earn the corresponding bonus points. However, I will not accept any stories that feature the following celebrities: Seungri, Jung Joon Young, Yong Junhyung, Choi Jonghoon, Lee Jonghyun, Roy Kim, Eddy Kim, Park Yoochun.

 

Since several of you also enjoy writing about actors and actresses, I have listed the ones that I follow. Those in bold are my biases within the acting community. This list will be updated from time to time as I catch up on my backlog of Korean dramas. So if you want to write with actors and actresses as your characters instead, go for it. Those stories are just as enjoyable as idol stories. As a side note, the list also contains several Chinese and Taiwanese actors and actresses.

 

One restriction I do have is that if you are writing about Mark Tuan, please don't use Joey as a character. It's really weird for me to read dialogue from my friend that was fabricated by a fan who has never met him. I realize that as a fanfiction writer myself, I am also guilty of this. Regardless, I still find it really awkward when Joey's family and friends are fanfiction characters. So please refrain from using any of Mark's American friends and family, especially Joey, as characters. Otherwise, go write about whoever you choose to your heart's content!
