You stood in the cold white room, staring at the body underneath the extensive tubing. The man’s chest moved up and down in sync with the ventilation machine next to the bed. An IV bag stood above it, slowly dripping a clear solution into a tube that ended in a syringe that was inserted into a thin pale hand.  A heart monitor stood across the other machines, with a slow steady beat echoing through the room.
