Cassette Tapes

Description

Kim Jongin is known as the most popular boy in school, captain of the football team, and every girl's dream. He's always crushing poor little girl's hearts and bullying others but out of peer pressure. Everything changes when a boy named Do Kyungsoo enters his homeroom class. Jongin usually doesn't pay close attention to new students; however; something about Kyungsoo is different. He hides his eyes behind thick, dark sunglasses and carries a white cane with a red tip to get around.

Do Kyungsoo is blind.

At first, Jongin treats him like a stranger but when he spots some of his teammates and friends bullying Kyungsoo, he comes to his side. He soon stops treating Kyungsoo as a stranger and starts treating him as an actual friend. The more time he spends with Kyungsoo, the more he realizes that he's in love with him. He never even thought he'd fall in love with a blinded boy. He believes he loves Kyungsoo more than he pities him.

"My name is Kim Jong In and I think I'm in love with Do Kyungsoo."

Cassette Tapes

Jongin stared up at Kyungsoo's ceiling. His ceiling was the first thing that caught his attention. There were cassette tapes, of different sorts and sizes, hanging all over Kyungsoo's room.

"Why do you have all these tapes hanging across your ceiling?" Jongin was curious to know.

"I like to record things," Kyungsoo said. He was now laying on his back.

"Huh?"

"I can't see," Kyungsoo reminded him. "I like to record sounds and the voices of people. I do this so I can recognize them."

"Oh. I guess that makes sense," This was the first time Jongin had heard something that bizarre before, but he wasn't going to complain. It was Kyungsoo after all. The kid was blind. He was strange yet talented in so many things. There was nothing to complain about.

Jongin's eyes scanned around the room some more. He didn't know what else to talk about, so he was trying to get an idea by finding something to look at. His eyes landed on the violin case up against the wall.

Kyungsoo scooted closer to the edge of the bed. He stretched his arm out to the floor and started searching for something. He was trying to feel for his cassette player and a tape. It didn't take him long to find it. He picked up the player and a pink tape.

"Like this," He said, struggling to push the tape inside its compartment. "Instead of remembering faces, I remember voices."

"Wow! You're really talented. Is there anything you can't do?" Jongin said. He felt stupid after asking because there were a few things Kyungsoo couldn't do. "You're so gifted and I bet your parents are very proud."

Jongin saw the look on Kyungsoo's face change drastically. He had seen that look on Kyungsoo's face before. He made that face whenever Jongin said something he wasn't suppose to say. Now, he really wanted to take it back.

"Y-yeah..." Kyungsoo stuttered. His frown turned into a smirk, but Jongin could tell it wasn't real. "Say something."

Kyungsoo pressed record.

The room went silent for a while. He almost had the feeling that Jongin actually left, but he knew better. He knew that if Jongin left, he would had noticed the bed feeling much lighter. So, he waited. He waited for Jongin to say something.

Jongin stared at Kyungsoo's face for the longest time. He glanced into his eyes and even tried counting his eyelash hairs. The kid was perfect. He had perfect skin, perfect hair and a perfect face. He had no flaws. The only flaw he had was being blind, but Jongin still saw him as perfect.

Jongin looked down at his perfectly shaped, pink lips. He wanted to kiss those innocent lips. He wanted to push the bangs out from Kyungsoo's forehead and place kisses all over. He wanted to hold him.

Jongin opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again. He knew what to say, but didn't know how to say it. He wanted to say only three words. They were three simple, yet powerful words. He wasn't quite sure if now was the right time to say them.

Those three simple, yet powerful words could go both ways. It could ruin their relationship or make it stronger. It was a risk Jongin was not quite ready to take.

And those three simple, yet powerful words were the words...

"I love you," the words accidently slipped through Jongin's lips, causing him to turn a bright red. He meant what he said, but he didn't mean to say it now. Not now. Not at this moment.

But the look on Kyungsoo's face made him think the otherwise. "Have you ever heard of the saying 'if one sense is lost, another sense gets stronger?'" "No." "Well, I believe that is the case with me. I may have lost my sense to see, but all my other senses, smell, touch, and hear, are alot stronger." "Treat kyungsoo like everyone else. Is that so hard? That's all I'm asking you, Oh Sehun."
