Special Chapter: The Last Day
Appa's Daughter"Life is like a candle… Either it slowly melts away or a harsh breath of wind blows it out of existence." -Brittany Ann Smith
The sunlight seeping from the curtains of our window woke me up. I opened my eyes and saw the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.
The woman I have loved and still love since high school, my wife, Jessica Jung-Kwon. I always anticipated mornings, because when I woke up, it
will always be the sight of her that greets me the moment I opened my eyes. I kissed her fully on the lips as her eyes cutely fluttered open.
Good morning, Sica baby.
She went to cook breakfast, as I get ready for work. I smiled as I heard a child's voice repeatedly calling my name. Her loud footsteps were getting
closer to where I am. Here she comes. The door burst open, and I immediately knelt down to welcome my enthusiastic daughter in my arms.
“Good morning, Appa!” She greeted me cheerfully with a toothy grin that never fails to make my day brighter. Good morning to you too, Princess.
I was drinking coffee and eating my breakfast together with my family in the dining room. I looked at the amusing sight in front of me. There was Yoona
on my left, who greedily ate the hotdogs while ignoring the porridge in front of her; and my wife on my right, who was looking disapprovingly at Yoona’s
unhealthy choice of food. I felt waves of contentment and joy washed over me as I took in the sight.
It’s 9 in the morning, and I knew I had to go to work soon. I always hate leaving them for work. I saw Yoona pouting at me. She always said that
she gets sad seeing her Appa leaving her and her Umma in the morning for work. I promised her that Appa would be back before dinner, and that we’ll
watch cartoons together before going to bed. She gave me a big smile and kissed me soundly on my cheek. I looked up and saw a sad Sica, who was cutely
pointing at her lips. Baby, how could you ever think that I would forget about you?

I felt my muscles aching and my body worn out from working since morning. I heard my alarm buzzed and glanced at the clock. A smile made its way to
my face as I saw that it was 6 in the evening. Yes! It’s time to go home! I gathered my things and wore my coat. I said goodbye to my secretary, and told
her to be careful going home. I whistled a happy tune as I went to my best friend’s office next to mine. She scowled at me when I that I’m
going home early while she had to stay back, ‘cause she came late at work today. “Stupid kkabyul”
