Have You Noticed Me? [Previously 'The Coffee Shop']

Description

Jongdae is just an every day customer at his local coffee shop. However his visits increase when he spots a determined writer named Minseok sitting a few tables away.

This is my first attempt at an Exo one shot.

I got the idea because my boss took me to Starbuck's one morning. I didn't order anything, but I was watching the people and there was a man sitting at his laptop who was concentrating really hard.

And then; ta~dah~

Inspiration for Exo fic.

Foreword

The bell chimed noisely, signaling that a customer had walked into the coffee shop. A pair of searching dark orbs looked the place over. It seemed to satisfy me enough. The place didn't have too many customers and it wasn't noisy at all. Soft jazz seemed to be playing over the radio, but it was nearly inaudible. It was close to my apartment and it would only be a quick stop before I had to head off to work. I could see myself coming often to get my much-needed cup of coffee.

I stepped in line and it wasn't long before the woman at the register asked me what I would like. "Uhm, I'll just have an Americano. For here, please." The woman offered a polite smile before punching in the amount and handing me back my change. I stepped aside as I waited for my coffee, allowing the person behind me to order. I took this oppurtunity to take in my surroundings once more. The lounge chairs looked comfortable enough and the tables were tall and inviting. I nodded my approval, liking the look of the place.

"Sir, your Americano." She slid the cup of steaming liquid onto the counter and I gratefully took it to the table by the window. I turned my gaze outside and watched as people walked by, oblivious to the comfy coffee shop and it's delicious coffee. I was satisfied.

The next few weeks I had come every so often to grab the energizing caffeine. It was my morning wake up when I wasn't late and rushing. The mornings I was able to enjoy an Americano were mostly spent people-watching. I enjoyed, for some reason, watching people rush around because of the time, or sit back and relax. However, one man in particular caught my attention. I didn't notice him much at first. The times I came in he was always sitting at the same table just across the room. He would always be extremely focused on his laptop. Sometimes he would sit back and look out the window, as if waiting for inspiration to hit. Other times he would tap at the keys as if he were in a hurry to get all of his ideas down. Once in awhile I would try and catch his eye when he wasn't paying attention to the electronic device in front of him, but it never happened. He seemed as if he had tunnel vision, only seeing the unfinished story in front of him. I knew, however, that what little attention he payed to me or anybody else was fine. I was happy just simply watching him from afar.
