Little Baekhyun hides behind a big tree at his kindergarten’s backyard. Today is the 12th anniversary of his kindergarten and the celebration is by having superhero costumes festival and some little competitions. He scans the whole backyard and gnaws at his bottom lip. Everyone looks so cute in their costumes and Baekhyun thinks he looks stupid.

“Baekkie!” little Chanyeol in his Spiderman costume runs across the backyard to his best friend, his curly brown hair cutely bouncing. Once he reaches the big tree, he tries to get a glimpse of what his best friend is wearing but Baekhyun keeps hiding. He can only see Baekhyun’s hair, which is in its normal style, so he doesn’t know what superhero Baekhyun is. “Baekkie, what’s wrong?”

“Baekkie hates this costume mommy chose. Baekkie doesn’t want to join the running competition in this costume.”

Chanyeol tilts his head to the side, big eyes showing curiosity. “Why?”

“Because Baekkie look stupid in this costume, Channie,” Baekhyun pouts and steps out to reveal himself. “Why is Superman so stupid? Why does he wear his red underwear outside? Did his mom not tell him to use it before pants?”

Chanyeol just innocently drops his jaw at the sight of his tiny best friend in Superman costume. Baekhyun may think he looks stupid but Chanyeol thinks the shorter kid looks extremely adorable. And the reason why Baekhyun thinks he looks stupid…

“See? Channie also thinks Baekkie looks stupid, right?” Baekhyun juts his bottom lip even more.

“No!” Chanyeol quickly fixes his expression. He motions for his best friend to come closer. “Come here, Baekkie.”

Baekhyun reluctantly complies. Once he’s finally right in front of Chanyeol, he puffs out his chubby cheeks and looks up at the latter.

“Baekkie is the cutest! Forever!” Chanyeol grins and squeezes Baekhyun’s cheeks together. “Superbaek is the cutest!”

Baekhyun blinks. “But Spiderchan looks dumb.”

Chanyeol gasps and lets his hands fall on his sides again. “Baekkie!”

“Kidding!” Baekhyun heartily laughs, eyes forming into crescent moons.

Chanyeol headlocks the older kid and tickles him on the sides, earning louder laugh from the the victim. A moment later, he stops torturing and puts his hands on Baekhyun’s shoulders. “Baekkie, you have to win in our running competition, okay?”

“But—”

“Baekkie promised Channie!” Chanyeol tries to look upset. If only he didn’t win in every running test in their P.E every week, Chanyeol’d have been allowed to join today’s running competition. “If Baekkie doesn’t win, Channie won’t be Baekkie’s best friend anymore.”

At the thought of stop being friends with Chanyeol, Baekhyun grows determined. “Baekkie will win!”

“Yeay!” Chanyeol immediately grins and pats the top of the smaller kid’s head. “Channie will cheer for Baekkie on the finish line.”

Baekhyun nods with a big smile.
