Seoul Searching

an almost typical summer story about love.

I left on a one way ticket to Seoul, South Korea ; basically half way around the globe from where 'home' was.

I was tired of the fake koreana i went to school with. Trying to act all fob when i knew they were born in the same Canadian hospital i was from.  They have never even stepped foot in our mother land and yet they say they're true, typical koreans.  More like a western stereo type.  I hated how all of the Korean guys would try to be all lovey-dovey like the guys in dramas. But really, I was just tired of myself trying to be someone i wasn't.  I was too 'white-washed' to hang out with the Korean kids.  Just because I didn't think it was suitable to talk only in Korean in a school of multicultural status (unless i was talking ).  And I was too 'asian' for the white kids.

Sadly, when i arrived in Korea, my dad and some guards were there waiting for me.  I didn't want to live with him.. plus it's not like he was ever in my life for the past 10 years (my parents are not divorced.. they just live in different countries).  They ended up arranging me to live with my single aunt and her 3 year old baby boy.

Two days into my summer, i've already used up all of my money for a plane ticket, 'ran way' from home, saw my dad, and met my aunt and cousin i've only seen in pictures.  Other mishaps happened on the plance and such but I won't go into detail.

Wonder what my summer in Korea will bring :)
