Chapter 15

CURTAINS

It’s a horrific scene. Emma’s room is filled with mud. The Curtains…the expensive curtains… are also filled with mud. Everything…is filled with mud!

Emma is furious, she’s been shouting at the top of her lungs. Sulli is standing beside Kevin who is crying.

“That kid did this I am sure! You don’t know how to control that kid! Look at what he did! If you can’t control him here and make him a civilized being, then you should’ve said it to Minho! I don’t want to spend another day here with the 2 of you! You’ve done too much damage already!” shouted Emma.

Sulli knelt beside Kevin.

“Kevin, did you do it?” asked Sulli

“No Mommy” said Kevin breathless form crying “I did not…mud…in room…I did…not…”

Sulli hugged Kevin…

Emma got angier!

“Liar! That kid is a liar! What kind of principles do you teach that kid?! No values at all.” Shouted Emma

Sulli is nearing her limit. Kevin is a good kid. He doesn’t lie. If he says he did not do it, he did not do it.

“Auntie…Let’s handle this in a peaceful manner” said Krystal

“No Krystal. There is no peaceful way this can be settled. I want the 2 of you out of this house!” said Emma

“But Auntie…Minho will be really angry if he learns you’re kicking them out. So please cool down.” Said Krystal

“No, This house is mine. I have the last say who stays here and who leaves!” said Emma

Sulli can’t take it anymore.

“Madam…I know that your room is destroyed and I know how valuable this is to you…but Madam…my child said he did not do it. And I taught him to always tell the truth. He said he didn’t do it. So I don’t think he did.” Said Sulli

“You woman! How could you point the finger back at me?! You saying I am the liar here?!” said Emma

Krystal went near Sulli

“Sulli…Please just don’t speak anymore…don’t provoke Auntie any further.” Said Krystal

“I’m sorry Miss Krystal. But I can’t just quietly take everything in. It’s true that we’re not rich. But the values are not gone. I’ve been trying my best to bring Kevin up well. And Kevin has been following me and is a good child.” Said Sulli

“Values are not gone?! You were a bar girl!” said Emma “You’ll put shame on any man that will marry you!”

Sulli is running out of words. It’s true she did that job…But she tried to hold on to her values as much as she could even under that circumstance.

“You were?” Krystal seemed to be surprised at what she heard.

“Yes…And I did that because I need to make sure Kevin survives. For you that might be lack of values. But with a child depending on you, I don’t think that’s not lost values.” Said Sulli

“You to talk back to someone older than you like that! No respect at all!” Emma shouted

“That’s enough.” Said a voice from the door. Minho entered the room and looked around.

“You see…you see what that kid did to my room?! How can I ever sleep in this room again?!” said Emma

Minho saw Sulli standing. Her hands shaking in anger. He can see her eyes where tears are going to flow out anytime…He heard the argument from the time Sulli spoke up. He heard it even when he was just about to enter the Mansion. How can he not when the 2 women were shouting?

He needs to make a decision right away. It’s obvious that his Dad’s past and his Mom, can’t stay in one roof any longer.

“I can’t bear it anymore, Minho. Kick them out this instant!” said Emma

“That’s fine. You don’t need to kick us out. Because we’re leaving. From the very start we already knew we are not accepted here. But we tried…to not be in your way...but still things ended up like this.” Said Sulli “I won’t hesitate to leave.”

Sulli faced Minho. “Thank you for taking care of us all this time.” Said Sulli. Sulli made a bow and went out the room pulling Kevin with her. She saw Sohyun by the door who was just stunned there while seeing everything. Sulli tried to smile at Sohyun…but it did not reach her eyes.

Sulli opened the big bag and put all the things she brought in back in the bag.

“Mommy…if we leave…will I see Daddy Ajussi again?” asked Kevin

“I don’t know Kevin…I’m not sure.” Said Sulli

Kevin started crying again.

Sulli sigh and sat on the bed. Her heart is exploding.

“I’m sorry Kevin…that I am not able to fight for you to stay here. I know you like it here. You have a family here….you have a Daddy…a Mommy…a Noona…it was almost perfect…” Sulli said crying. Kevin hugged Sulli.

“Mommy don’t cry” said Kevin.

Sulli hugged Kevin back.

Somebody opened the door of their room. When Sulli looked up she saw Minho walking towards her.

Minho saw Sulli crying with Kevin…and it’s heartbreaking to see.

Minho sat beside Sulli.

For while. They just sat there quietly. Sulli felt like Kevin has already fallen asleep and placed Kevin on the bed. Sulli stood up and continued to open the cabinets. She took things that she needs to take with her.

“What are you doing?” asked Minho

“Umm…just making sure we did not leave anything important.” Said Sulli

Sulli tried to reach something in the upper cabinet, but it fell on her shoulder and then to the floor.

“Ou…ch.” It was the set of notebooks and envelopes from her Unnie’s house.

Minho stood up and touched Sulli’s shoulder. It will leave a bruise for sure. M

“I’m sorry if my Mom said those…hurtful words.” Said Minho
