.author's note

Sometimes, bits of inspiration are stored within us and it is only after months (or in this case, years) that they are uncovered and finally realized. Two long years ago, JB and I chose our pen name based on a phenomenal French film titled "Les Choristes". Jean-Baptiste Maunier played the lead role and was also the soloist for the songs in the soundtrack, one of which is titled "Cerf-Volant" (translated as "kite"). A particular touching scene from the film was the inspiration for this story, so do check it out after reading. :)

Although this story cannot do justice to the film, the song or the unsinkable ship that is Baekyeol, it is all I can give in return for the joy that all three have given me. Also, school!EXO was begging to be written after I was assaulted by SM's teaser photos so here we are.

Chapter 3: This is beautiful, and sad. this make my heart crack a little bit. I guess all along that Chanyeol probably has passed away, but I really curious about the letter that Baekhyun received, wheter is that really from Chanyeol or is that just Baekhyun imagination? I am glad that there are a Notes chapter to explain it. good job :)

Chapter 3: Oh God, This struck me hard.
The story, in the beginning, it got my mind working. My thoughts were between is he there or is he not. And at the mention of flowers, the answer was there itself. I was afraid that Baek was going to tell the other two about the letters they exchange; I was really afraid that whatever divine power that helped them interact would be gone. But of course, Baek rather let himself be seen as imagining things instead of showing them proofs.

Of course, being best of friends, how could they even let go. I have not experienced it myself yet, but the emotions are deep enough and I'm crying my eyeballs out, tear ducts working overtime.

And your note, now I'm calling my Mom.

Chapter 3: You made me cry really hard. I'm still sobbing and I can't see what I'm writing. This was too sad. But also beautiful. Heart wrenching... I am so scared to lose anyone dear to me.

Chapter 3: hmm, wow. this was a really beautiful story.
The note helped explain some things, but I was proud that I understood most of what was said through the story itself.

Indeed, Baekhyun and Chanyeol who both desperately held onto each other and Jongdae and Kyungsoo who thought Baekhyun was slightly delusional are all so real and understandable.
and I'm glad baekyeol had their own miracle in being able to write to each other even after death. And the message and theme was really deep too.
All in all, beautiful story!

PS: I was wondering what cerf volant meant? (sorry if you wrote this somewhere, I didn't see)

Chapter 3: interesting note, i think i learned a few things more thanks to you :)
this story was very original, at first i thought chanyeol was in some kind of residence, but he turned out to be halfway past the sky. the french title grabbed my attention, and i was a little joyful to see you write about Les Choristes since it is one of my favorite movies :)

Poor Channie. He die so young. And Baek! I feel so sorry for him! He actually witnessed Chanyeol's accident and was with him. Such devastated news to received that your bestfriend died ㅠㅠ

Chapter 2: OTL I'M SO CLOSE TO CRYING RIGHT NOW;;;;; i nearly lost it when chanyeol said it was time for his 'closure' ; _ ; this story is so beautifully simple, right to the point; it's touching that way and i love how you showed baekhyun's love for chanyeol (and vice versa) without spoon-feeding it in the slightest. i felt baekhyun's desperation when he tried to reach chanyeol for the last time and it truly hurt to read his suffering. just.. this fic i-
