“And those two are?” Siyeon's father asked with a curious look on his face as he looked at Sehun and Kai. Siyeon had a hard time to get her arms free. “The blonde one is Sehun and the black haired on is Kai. They are my classmates.” More or less her classmates, if that even existed at Prosperity High. “Your classmates?” Her mother called out, her voice high, and Siyeon immediately knew that Sehun and Kai would return very, very late that night. “We found Siyeon and it would have been bad if she would go home alone in a night like this, right?”

Kai poured his charm over Siyeon's mother, who seemed to be totally captivated by him, until Sehun interrupted them. “I hope we didn't disturb you or something like that.” Strangely, Sehun had his own kind of charms, which were just as effective. It wondered Siyeon why she never had noticed that before.
“Oh no! Of course not. We are sorry for this... scene here. Thank you a lot for bringing our Siyeon back home. I am Nana, her mother and this Minjung, my husband. Are you guys hungry? We just had dinner and there still are some leftovers.”

The gaze Sehun shot at Kai made it very clear that they actually would decline, but Nana grabbed both Sehun's and Kai's arms and dragged them into the house. “I won't accept any no! You guys need to eat! You look so thin!” Both guys looked like they wanted to protest but Nana didn't stop talking so they actually had no chance to even speak up.

As Siyeon looked at her father, he smiled, but it wavered a bit as he noticed that she stared at him. “We wanted to tell you, but we feared that you would start to hate us when you know the truth,” he whispered but Siyeon hugged him tight and closed her eyes, breathed in the familiar scent of his after shave, let the familiar warmth console her upset feelings. As a child, she often had fled into her father's arms whenever she was upset, sad or angry. “How could I hate those who raised me and taught me everything I know, dad?” she whispered while Minjung quickly blinked the tears away.

In his eyes, Siyeon still was a little child and he remembered the day of their first encounter really well. They had decided to adopt a child because Nana wasn't able to bear any children. It had been a really hard to for both of them and since they hadn't had want to give up their dream to have at least on child, adoption had been the only possibility.
Many, many children had been at the orphanage, many of them looked so hopeful as Nana and Minjun had arrived but only one child had caught their attention. A child that looked so sad, so terrified, so hopeless. Siyeon had been different from the others and it had took Minjun and Nana a lot of time to get through to her.

“You know, as we asked the supervisor why you looked so sad, he said that you actually had no memories of what happened before,” Minjun said as they walked back into the house. “I don't remember any of this,” whispered Siyeon while biting her lips. “I don't even remember that you tried to talk to me. I... only remember the happy things.”

There was only blackness as she tried to recall everything before her seventh birthday but as hard as she tried, nothing came. “I heard of such cases. Amnesia caused by post-traumatic stress disorder. Whatever happened to you, it must have been so horrible that you simply wanted to forget.”

Siyeon's father was right, but there was nothing, really nothing Siyeon could remember but she wouldn't give up. “Oh my,” he whispered as they walked into the living room, where Kai and Sehun sat at the table, a huge mountain of food in front of them. “Mum, don't you think this is a bit too much?” Siyeon called out but her mother waved her concerns away with a movement of her head. “Oh come on, your friends surely can eat a lot.” She grabbed Siyeon and sat her down next to Sehun, before she disappeared into the next room.
