The In-Laws

Yoona took in deep breaths, allowing Luhan to lead the way. "We're here," he tugged at her hand to gain her attention.

"Wait.," She said, right as his hand was about to hit the doorbell. "I'm not ready. What if she doesn't like my clothing, or worse," her eyes widened, terrified of the upcoming events. "What if she doesn't like me?" she managed to squeak out. "Maybe we should come back tomorrow when I'm more -" Luhan silenced her off with a passionate kiss.

Runningn his hand through her hair, he shot her an assuring smile. "Stop worrying, they'll love you. I'm sure of it." He gave her nose a quick peck before pressing the doorbell. "I promise."

It didn't take long before the front door opened, revealing an older pair of couple. "Jin lai jin lai." the elder woman, who assumed to be Mrs. Lu, ushered them inside.

"N-nin h-hao," Yoona struggled to say. What was wrong with her? She had practiced saying this with Luhan a million times, not to mention she had faced more nerve-wrecking events without stumbling over her words. Sensing her uneasiness, Luhan squeezed her hand in comfort and led her into the living room.

"Ma, ba, zhe  shi  Yun er, wo zai dian hua li gen ni men shuo de na wei." Luhan introduced. (Mom, dad, this is YoonA, the one I've been telling you about.)

"Ah, ni zhe chou xiao zi, ji rang wang le shuo ta you duo piao liang le." Mr. Lu commented, his eyes twinkling with mischief. (Ah, You little pest, how come you never mentioned she was so pretty?)

Somewhere in the conversation, Yoona caught the word piao liang and knew it meant pretty. She flashed Mr. Lu a charming smile in gratitude.  I think I'm going to get along with Mr. Lu just fine. Mrs. Lu however was a whole different matter. Ever since they had came in the living room, Mrs. Lu had been eyeing Yoona critically. More than likely sizing me up to see if I'm worthy of her son. Since the beginning of time, there has existed a conflict between the mother in law and the son's wife. Probably due to the fact that mothers think there would never exist a woman that deserved their precious sons or they could just feel threatened that the son's wife would take her son away.
