Chapter 29: Bipolarity.

After changing out of his dress shirt and trousers, Lu Han quickly rummaged through its pockets for his phone. Upon acquiring the said device, he unlocked the screen and dialled a number with much force, almost as if trying to put a dent on it.

After a couple of rings, the person on the other line answered eventually, his voice sounding a bit casual. “Yo, what’s up—“

“Yah Kim Jongdae.” Lu Han said, interrupting the other person while using a venomous voice.

“Yes Lu Han-hyung?” Chen chuckled, finding it unusual for Lu Han to call him by his full original name. “What can I do for the almighty Bambi?”

“I’m going to go straight to the point so listen carefully,” Lu Han hissed, walking back and forth inside his room with a very furious expression. “You better tell your younger brother to suppress his ing hormones or else—“

“Whoa, whoa, wait a sec,” Chen interrupted, utter surprise could be heard in his usual calm voice. “Dude, what the hell are you talking about?”

“I just saw Kai bringing Jaera home again!” Lu Han exclaimed, his temper getting high again upon remembering the scene that he saw near the lobby.

Hearing the familiar outburst from Lu Han, Chen slowly raised an eyebrow. “And?”

“It’s already 10:30 in the evening!”

“So?”

“It’s already dark and they’re still out on the streets!”

“Your point is?”

Having enough of Chen’s short and annoying questions, Lu Han plopped down on the edge of his bed and gritted his teeth. “Ugh, use your head for once, will you Chen?! Why can’t you understand?!”

“Hey chill Bambi, I am indeed using my head and I perfectly understand what you’re trying to say.” Chen retorted, opting to pause from his current work to focus on his conversation with Lu Han. “But what I don’t understand is why you’re taking this all too seriously?”

“What are you—“ Before Lu Han can even react, Chen had already started talking again.

“I thought you’re only doing this to have fun, to have some sort of entertainment in your boring life?”

“You’re right…” Lu Han trailed off, his temper slowly decreasing as his reflection on the mirror came to his field of sight. “But I also do want to help her until she’s eighteen.”

“Okay, given the situation that you want to be a good Samaritan and you do want to help her,” Chen started, finding the situation quite amusing as he tried to suppress the laughter that was threatening to come out from his lips. “What’s the matter if Kai brings Jaera home?”

Biting the insides of his cheeks, Lu Han pondered for a while, hesitating whether to tell the reason that he had in mind out loud.

“Yah, are you still there?” Chen asked, looking at his phone’s screen before placing it back near his ear.

“Yeah, I’m still here… it’s just…” Lu Han sighed as he finally made up his mind. “They’re getting close.”

“So what if they’re getting close?” Chen chuckled, unable to contain his delight at the distressed Lu Han. Hearing how troubled the other male was entertaining, how much more if he were to see it in person? “Tell me, what’s it to you hyung?”

“Nothing.” Lu Han gritted his teeth in annoyance as he clenched his hands into a fist. He really wanted to dash out on the road and go to Chen’s office just to punch the male. He hated Chen for laughing at him, he hated how he sounded so carefree, he hated how he was making a right point but most of all, he hated the younger male for making him realize how he was acting so irrational over the matter when he shouldn’t be in the first place. “It’s nothing to me.”

“There! You said it yourself so stop acting like this. You’re getting overly suspicious.” Chen said, a faint laughter coming from him, causing for Lu Han to roll his eyes in sheer annoyance. He then heard another faint voice in the background before the other male spoke again. “Wait, talk to you later. Dad’s calling me.”

Lu Han sighed and rubbed his temples, a mixture of relief and frustration running over him. “It’s fine if you don’t call back. Better yet, don’t call me ever again.”

Chen only chuckled in response. He knew that Lu Han didn’t really mean what he said and was only frustrated—one of the traits that he and his younger cousin, Sehun, shared. Actually, having a cold and hostile attitude can be quite cute and amusing but sometimes, Chen can’t help but wish for Lu Han to at least be a little bit like Kris—calm and tolerant. “Well, just a quick reminder, Jaera’s only seventeen. Five years younger than you. An underage, a , a—“

“Shut up.” Lu Han hissed before finally having enough of Chen’s annoying voice. Without the least bit of care for his phone, he tossed it to his back as he plopped himself on the bed, his long legs dangling on the frame of the bed. He then closed his eyes and breathed heavily, trying to forget the still images in his mind. “What a ed up night.”

After a couple of minutes, the sound of the front door being opened was heard, causing for Lu Han’s eyes to shot open. He stayed still in place as he listened to the sound of the footsteps coming from the living room. Recognizing it as Jaera’s, Lu Han quickly got up from the bed and stormed outside of his room.

“Oh hey, you’re back.” Jaera said nonchalantly, removing her shoes before placing them inside the shoe cabinet by the door. “You’re quite early today—“

“It’s already 10:45 and you still think it’s early?” Lu Han asked, the annoyance very apparent in his voice, causing for Jaera to turn and look at him in bewilderment.

“I didn’t know it was already 10:45, I didn’t notice the time.”

“Because you were busy, right?” Lu Han said, crossing his arms as he eyed Jaera in scrutiny. “Where were you? Why were you late?”

Jaera was a bit taken aback by Lu Han’s query and tone of voice. It’s as if he was like an overprotective older brother interrogating his younger sister after coming home late. Actually, looking at the scenario from a clueless outsider’s point of view, you would think that it was indeed the case—albeit, the truth was very far from it.

“I just went out with a friend.” Jaera calmly answered, taking the sudden questioning by Lu Han as a part of his usual y and adverse nature. She then dropped her bag on the couch and plopped herself beside it while rubbing her sore legs.

“A friend named Kai.” Lu Han said, not moving from his place as he continued to peer at Jaera with narrowed eyes.

Hearing Lu Han’s words, Jaera stopped and turned to him. “Oh? How did you know?”

“I saw you two at the lobby.” Lu Han said in a hard tone, his temper slowly rising back by the lack of concern coming from Jaera.

“Ah… we just went out for an ice cream.”

“Ice cream?” Lu Han scoffed, stepping closer towards Jaera as he looked at her mockingly. “You just went out for an ice cream and yet you managed to finish by night time?”

Realizing that the atmosphere was getting tenser and tenser by the second, Jaera completely turned to Lu Han and looked at him cautiously. “Well, we also waited for Sehun to finish his shift—“

“Sehun could perfectly go home by himself,” Lu Han interrupted, his voice getting harsher than the usual. “Why did you have to wait for him?”

“He wanted us to—“

“And you,” Lu Han butted once more, drilling his penetrating eyes onto Jaera. “You could go home by yourself, right? Why did you have to let Kai drop you off here?”

“Jongin-oppa—I mean, Kai—“

“And now you call him oppa? Jongin-oppa?” Lu Han asked, looking at Jaera in utter disbelief. “Wow! You two seem so much closer than before!”

Finally having enough of the unnecessary interrogation, Jaera tried to speak again. “Ahjussi, what’s with you—“

“Ugh, this is pointless!” Lu Han exclaimed, a scowl forming on his face as he turned his back on Jaera. “Just go do your homework or something and go to sleep, you still have school tomorrow.”

Without letting Jaera utter even a single word, Lu Han had already stomped off back to his room, shutting the door with a loud thud and leaving the girl in the living room, thoroughly dumbfounded.

With a stunned look, Jaera stared at Lu Han’s door before blinking her wide eyes after what felt like a long time of engaging in a one sided verbal argument. “What the hell was that all about?”

Jaera walked to school in a fairly dazed manner. It was a question for her if she should still be worried about Lu Han’s occasionally changing moods or to just let it slide and ignore the matter. There had been a few times where the male had questioned her, acting like a girl on PMS and all throughout those times, Jaera had managed to overlook it and take it as a part of his nature—a part of him which will be hard to change, almost close to impossible. She wasn’t annoyed by it though, Lu Han’s constant nosiness towards her personal life. For her, it was perfectly fine for him to ask

Chapter 60: This is my second time reading the ff (T▽T) author-nim you did a really good job ˊ▽ˋ i still love it even after years past. Reading this back reminds me a lot of past (〒︿〒) i miss the past so much the first time i read this when i was still in high school, still in my teens (not that im already old but yeah just entered twenties this year) anyway the story was great, honestly when you described jisoo i used to imagined her as sulli and i was shocked when you told us that you changed her name from sulli to jisoo bc tbh i think sulli fits the description more hahaha. Talk about jisoo, i like that girl yeah she might be annoying sometimes especially when it comes to her love for luhan but can i blame her when we all know that love is something we can't choose. It must also hurt her so much same as sehun.. I just want to hug and protect him so much (╥﹏╥) that boy really sacrificed so much for jaera and his luhan hyung lmao that show how big his heart. As for jaera and luhan...i love and ship both of them so much (ಥ_ಥ) both of them was definitely are destined for each other since from the start. They lost contacts from each other but years after that, they met again without knowing each other real identity but luhan..he still fell in love with jaera for the second time (ノ>ω<)ノ i like how he really cares for jaera (T_T) i even counted how much his nose bled over jaera in this ff..it was like five times before they are married and one time after they are married lmao that girl really did make him fell hard for her (^O^)/ . If only i can upvote this so many times, i would! ♡♡ thank you for the amazing ff author-nim hehehe ♡(◡‿◡✿)
