Narrator’s P.O.V:
“Byunghun,” a voice whispered in the ears of a dormant Andromeda.
Arms crossed over his chest, L. Joe found himself leaning against a wall, eyes fluttering open. Seeming to be in a building of some kind, he rubbed his eyes with one hand, pushing himself off the wall with his foot.
Chandeliers lit up the never-ending hallways, and winding staircases obscured his view. It seemed to be a mansion—a foreign manor, if you will. The whole atmosphere of the mansion seemed inviting—tempting him to continue down the hallway.
Everything seemed unfamiliar.
Everything was familiar.
Where was he? What was this strange place? More importantly, why was he here? The blond desired all the answers, but there was nobody present to ask. Still, he thought that it would be best to try searching for a person, first.
In the silence, his voice echoed off the walls. “Hello?”
L. Joe listened intently, and then he heard it.
“Byunghun!” the voice called again.
Drip. Automatically, his hands found their way to his face, and they brushed over his eyelids. He pulled them away from his eyes and stared at them. They were wet and watery.
None of this made sense. Androids—much less Andromedas—couldn’t cry.
“Byunghun, dear!”
Not even a nanosecond passed, and he was pretty much streaming with tears. He’d never cried in his lifetime—at least, not that he could remember, and it was getting frustrating.
He was confused and hurting and dumbfounded that he was practically bawling all because of a single voice. His thoughts were a jumbled heap. No sounds were being made, just tears were being produced.
But the most frustrating thing was that he didn’t even know why. He’d seen plenty of Korean dramas on TV. All those humans had reasons for crying, so why didn’t he have one?
L. Joe put a hand over his eyes and pressed firmly. Stop, he wanted to command, stop crying, but his voice failed him and refused to utter anything.
