Prologue

 

“You know what would be really cool?”

 

Eight pairs of eyes made their way to the short girl focused on her mirror while playing with the pink streak in her hair. Having just finished their photo shoot for “Casio Baby-G” the nine known as Girl’s Generation were finally packing up and heading home for the day.

 

“If we could go out to dinner, nice dinner with just us girls.” Taeyeon turned to take in any reactions the others might have. “We’re almost done here and we don’t have anything else scheduled tonight.”

 

 Tiffany gave her a questioning look. “Is everything alright? You don’t normally want to just go out.”

 

The girl nodded and looked back at the mirror in front of her. “It just seems as though we haven’t been able to all be together for so long. I mean, with all our separate schedules we hardly ever get to see each other anymore as a group. I think we should just make a little time for us. We’re a family, but sometimes the world doesn’t let us be.” 

 

Everyone nodded in silent agreement as they finished packing the last of their things and began to leave. Tiffany made her way over to Taeyeon and gave her nudge in the side. “That was very ‘leader’ of you.” The girl snickered.

 

“Was it? I was just stating fact really.” Taeyeon rolled her eyes and climbed into the van, Tiffany following behind. “Mind if I sit here, Jess?” Jessica was staring out the window clearly spaced out. “Hello?” Taeyeon plopped down in the middle and waved a hand in front of the girls face. “You alive in there?” She jumped slightly when the girl turned her head suddenly.

  

 “Sit wherever.” Jessica shrugged and resumed looking out the window.

  

 “Okay.” Slightly confused by the abrupt behavior, Taeyeon began to scoot to the left seat just as Tiffany sat down. “Yah, I was gonna sit there!”

   

“It’s not my fault you’re too slow. Besides, you know I love the window seat.” Tiffany smiled. “Deuces.” She raised a peace sign.

 

 Taeyeon just rolled her eyes. ‘Whatever.’ She thought as she looked back at Jessica. ‘Is she mad at me? What did I do? Does she not want to go to dinner? Maybe she’s really tired.’

 

“Just because I’m looking out the window doesn’t mean I can’t see you, you know.” Taeyeon just smiled awkwardly at the girl’s reflection in the window.

  

“Oh, sorry. I was just wondering if you were tired. I guess I zoned out a bit. Babo.” She laughed awkwardly as she playfully knocked her knuckles to her head.

 

 Jessica laughed. “I’m not really tired. I was just thinking. Sorry if I worried you.”

 

“No no, it’s ok. What were you thinking about? I mean, you don’t have to tell me if you don-” 

 

Taeyeon and Jessica both jumped and looked at Tiffany. 

 

“How is that girl not deaf?” The girls laughed at how Tiffany seemed to be oblivious to the blaring music going throughout the van. “Anyways.” Taeyeon looked back at Jessica. She was staring at her hands now, fiddling her thumbs. “Are you sure-”

 

“Tae.” Her eyes left the girls hands and went back to the eyes that were now staring into hers. “You know you can tell me anything, right?” 

 

Taeyeon could feel her ears flame. "Where did that come from?" She laughed awkwardly. “What do you mean?” 

 

Jessica sighed and looked back down at her hands. “Well, we really haven’t been talking much anymore. Especially since you’ve had all your promotions with TaeTiSeo. I just wanted to remind you that I'm here.” Jessica’s gaze went back to the window. 

 

Taeyeon placed her left hand on top of the the two fiddling. “Did you think I could forget?” 

 

Jessica turned to look at Taeyeon and glanced back at Tiffany. “I do wonder sometimes.” She smiled. “ I guess, I’ve been feeling the same way about everyone, but I just didn’t know how to express it.”

 

Taeyeon nodded. “You can al-” The van stopped and the side door slid open. 

 

  “Come on, everyone!” Yoona shouted. “ I want to go to this nice dinner! It really has been too long since we did something sentimental together like this.” 

 

As all the girls began piling out, Jessica moved her hands and got up. 

 

“Jes-” Tiffany grabbed Taeyeon’s wrist.

 

“Tae.” She turned, giving  Tiffany a quizzical look. “I may play my music loud, but I can still hear a lot of what's going on around me.” Taeyeon felt her face heat up. “You want to tell me what’s up?”

 

“Nothing.” She laughed awkwardly.” Jessica was just venting a little since we haven’t talked much.” She got up and climbed out of the van. ‘Why am I blushing? Aish, it was all innocent.’
