Today More Than Yesterday

The Equation of Time

It was a bright clear day, perfect for walking around. It was one of those rare days that makes you feel secure, as if nothing can ever go wrong. In one particular neighborhood, people seemed happier than usual. The children were more energetic than they had ever been, running around, playing games like there’s no tomorrow. Teenagers who would rather hang out in malls or stay at a friend’s were all gathered outdoors, huddled in groups and chatting merrily. Young couples, lovingly walked hand in hand, their eyes never leaving each other. Families crowd the parks with their picnic baskets, parents sitting on the blanket watching the kids play. Among these people, one man walks with a big smile on his face.

Jong kook wondered whether it was just him, but the place had never looked beautiful as it was that day.  The lush trees, the meticulously maintained park, even the inviting benches along the old brick path looked so beautiful. He enjoyed walking in the open; even the occasional stares he got from bystanders didn’t dampen his mood. They were polite enough not to bother him and he was so grateful for that.

He had passed by that route countless times but he realized it was actually his first time to walk around in the place which was home to him for several years. He smiled, biting his lower lip as he thought of how strange he must have looked.

He reached the apartment complex. Stopping for a while, he looked at the buildings that he never had time to look at before. It was home, but all he remembers are the exhausted nights, where he literally had to almost drag his fatigued body into his unit, wake up before the sun rose, go to work and repeat the pattern every day.  A tear slid in his eye and he berated himself for feeling down. He had his ups and downs but still, he was luckier than the average guys around. He thought that is the most important thing in life, realize your dreams, have a good life and feel contented. He wouldn’t dare ask for more, but then he met a person who showed him what he was missing in life. He found another purpose. Like an eye opener, he discovered and saw things that he had never even dreamed of before.

He walked forward, never looking back. It was truly a great day and nothing could ever make him sad anymore, not when he already found her. He placed a hand on his pocket, making sure that the little velvet box was still tucked safely.

He nervously shifted in his seat. He took a sip of water as he eyed the door. He looked at the clock and sighed, realizing that he was an hour too early. He grinned as he stared outside, wondering when was the last time he had ever been so excited.

The wind started to blow, playing with her soft curls. Many people had been complimenting her that she looked fresh these days. She only smiled at them without offering any explanation. She carefully checked herself in the mirror, before finally making her way to the person who made her feel that she really does exist.

Jong kook abruptly stood up at the sound of the chimes. The door opened and he grinned. He looked at the woman walking towards to him. This drew sweet laughter from her who blushed at the intense look of the one man. She sat down the on chair opposite him and the two just smiled at each other, their eyes doing the talking. Even the waiter got embarrassed to interrupt the sweet moment unfolding at the unusually empty café.  Cliché? The two realized that falling in love is the cliché, but all can be forgiven now because they just didn’t care anymore.

“Eun hye-yah…” saying her name made his heart pound harder, as if that is even possible at the current speed of his heartbeat.  “Have you eaten?” she chuckled at Jong kook’s silliness, “Oppa, you asked me to have lunch with you remember? Of course, I haven’t eaten yet. So prepare your wallet okay? I’ll be eating a lot.”

“Ah, right… I guess I can’t concentrate much when you are around. Should we order first?” she nodded to his suggestion and Jong kook raised his hand to call the waiter’s attention. After taking their order Jong kook held Eun hye’s hands, playing with them, thinking of how fragile her hand looked in contrast to his rough ones.  “Are you okay oppa? You seem to be a little bit weird today...”

“It’s nothing… I am just happy that you are here. You know, I’ve been thinking a lot these days.”

“Are there any problems oppa? You know that I’m always here for you. We promised no secrets between us, right?” he nodded, but today was not a normal day. “Eun hye-yah… I think the food will take a while, how about some music as we wait?”

“Sure.” Jong kook stood up, leaving Eun hye wondering what was up with him. He walked towards a piano that was just placed there for that day. A microphone was also set up already and Eun hye can already guess the reason behind Jong kook’s restlessness. Her eyes got watery and Jong kook can’t help but laugh. “Eun hye-yah, why are you crying? It’s just a little bit of music you know…” Jong kook sat in front of the piano and started playing a sweet melody he himself composed. His voice filled the empty space as his lone audience listened.

I don't remember what day it was
I didn't notice what time it was
All I know is that I fell in love with you
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you
Every day's a new day in love with you
With each day comes a new way of loving you
Every time I kiss your lips my mind starts to wonder
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

Oh I love you more today than yesterday
But not as much as tomorrow
Oh I love you more today than yesterday
But darling not as much as tomorrow

A tall guy wearing a Kim Jong kook mask approached Eun hye, in his arms is a bouquet of tulips. The man bowed down to her and offered the flowers. Eun hye can’t help but giggle at the corny situation. She took the flowers, gave it a sniff and thanked the guy. “What is this oppa? You’re so funny.” Jong kook just winked at her as he continued singing.

Jong kook finished the song but stayed there, staring at Eun hye. “Yoon Eun hye… I asked you before, what time of the day is most romantic to you.  You said, as long as the sun is still up. I was walking around this morning and I realized, mornings are indeed beautiful. Therefore, I, as you can see, rented this place for us to enjoy, since we can’t really roam around even if I wanted to. I know you might be hungry but… I really want to show you something.” he walked towards her and offered his hand, which she heartily accepted. They went up the stairs, hand in hand to the rooftop, “Oppa, there is another reason why I like this time of the day… because it is bright, I can see you clearly. I can see if you are sad, if you are happy, I will be able to see everything clearly.” Eun hye suddenly stopped in her tracks. They are facing a closed door, which leads outside. “What’s the matter? Open the door…” Of course Jong kook knows well why she stopped, it was, after all, part of the plan.

Oppa…”

Neh?”

“It’s a r-ring. There’s a ring on the doorknob… could it be.”

“Could it be what?”

“That…”

“Of course it is that. Why else would a ring be there.” Jong kook chuckled. He reached for the ring tied on the doorknob, doing so made him wrap his thick arms around Eun hye. The small enclosure made them stand closer together, their hearts pounding in unison.

“Eun hye-yah…”

“Why oppa?”

“Will you marry me?”

She turned around to face the man who just proposed to her. She tried not to, but her eyes won’t listen and got watery all of a sudden. The closeness between them, the heat coming from him, his sincere eyes, that slight curve on his lips, she loves it. She loves everything there is to this man. She let out the breath that she had been holding ever since she saw the ring, “Yes, I want to marry you, Kim Jong kook.” Eun hye never thought a yes can actually make a grown man cry, but it is true. Jong kook swept her into a tight embrace. He whispered in her ear, making the butterflies in her stomach go wild, her toes curling up. She wrapped her arms around him, snuggling on his warm muscled chest.

“I love you so much, Eun hye yah.”

“I love you, I love you, and I love you to the nth power oppa.”

Saying I love you is not enough

Seeing you every day is not enough

I hunger for the day where we,

Don’t have to part even for a single minute

Sleeping and waking up with you

Spending what time left I have on earth

With only you,

That’s my only wish

That’s my only reason to live

Okay I made a mistake on the song... it turns out it is not KJK's song. I was looking for translation since I don't understand Korean, but it turns out that the site I went in was not reliable. The song title is I Love You More Today Than Yesterday by Jordan Mccoy. It's a good song so I won't change it, sorry for the wrong info. the last part though is not part of the song... it's from me.

I haven’t watched xman so if you ship Jong kook-Eun hye and you feel this is not right, I’m sorry but please don’t bash, I am after all a SpartAce shipper. If you want only Jong kook-Eun hye, then go to my RM collection and request there.
