Luhan’s POV

Kaihun.

Kai and Sehun.

Kai and Sehun!

I’d rather throw my gaze upon the other member than seeing Kai and Sehun talked. Even though it was just a matter of practice, I knew I might sound childish, but… I really didn’t like seeing the closeness among them. Was there something I missed so Kai and Sehun already this close? Ah, I knew, I always knew it since beginning, my departure to China for couple of times would result such a thing. Within that time, Sehun had walked out his new popularity with… Kai.

“Hyung…” Suddenly an I-Pad’s monitor popped before me. Its dazzling light made my eyes clouded for a while. “Look, Lumin moments, Xiuhan, or whatever it is…” said the owner of the gadget, Tao.

MWO?!

Tao grinned, pulled back his I-Pad before I could see what he meant through it clearly. “Tsk, tsk… our fans aren’t even missing one second of our moment on stage. Even this kind of thing didn’t slip away from their camera. Look, there are…  14 more pictures.”

Exasperated, I snatched our maknae’s newest gadget away and explored the page of that EXO fan’s blog. While holding my breath, I opened the thumbnail lined up in the latest page. From what the focused snapshots got, it had been taken successfully perfectly, my interaction with Xiumin throughout the yesterday event. I, who whispered in his ear to get the better of the limited ear-shot. I, who nudged his arm to step back following the tidiness of the group’s row. I, who exchanged bottle of drink with him.

I, who was calmed from exasperation toward the MC for her rudeness rising Kaihun.

“What’s so interesting?” Chen asked, peeking through a gap beside me.

To be precise, SOMETHING WAS WRONG HERE.

“ANI!!!” I snarled while keeping that scene away from Chen’s sight behind my back. It seemed that my shout was too loud. Kai and Sehun stopped, joining the rest of people in the room, stared at me questioningly.

I chose to evacuate, made an excuse to the toilet but actually, wanted to dash to the nearest café from SME. As I arrived at one particular chair in there, I dialed Sehun’s numbers. It failed to connect for times but I insisted that I must talk to him. Sending a message would create a probability that someone would come interrupting. This matter should be resolved quickly before it got too far.

Ah, connected.

“Sehun-ah?” I asked, which got no answer. A groan could be heard, agreeing my dial. “I’m waiting in the café across the building now. Come here, quick. There’s something I need to talk about.” Another groan in agreement and I reminded him to not let anyone seeing his departure before closing the dial.

While enjoying a cup of white tea, I waited for Sehun to arrive, which was longer than I thought. Did Suho forbid him to go? Did someone, especially Tao, whined to come along? Sehun-ah, where were you?

My eyes glued to the entrance. Not because of Sehun’s coming, but the appearance of someone I didn’t wish to come. Kai entered the café disguising himself with a hat. I should say that it was brilliant, making him looked like a high school student who often spent their parents’ money in costly places. I wished it were just a coincidence, Kai was just wanting to drink some coffee or something. But he walked straight toward me. Recognizing me that hide behind the beverage catalog I held upside down.

“Nice seats,” said Kai while taking a seat across mine. He called the waiter and took his choice at coffee macchiato. Without paying attention to my questioning look, he enjoyed the blues song being aired.

“Why are you here?” I asked impatiently.

“Wae? I have the freedom to be wherever I want to.”

Ridiculous answer. He was not supposed to be here when I was waiting for Sehun.

I dialed Sehun’s numbers again and hoped him to answer in the first ring. Instead, I watched in horror at Kai’s phone whose went off right after I heard the connecting sound in my ear. The number I was calling is the phone’s number in Kai’s hand?

“Ah…” Kai shrugged. “Just say whatever hyung want to say straightly.”

“Why Sehun’s phone on your hand?” I asked observing.

“Wrong. This is obviously mine…” He showed the phone’s wallpaper, him and his parents. Definitely not Sehun’s. Its model was different with Sehun’s. Seeing my confused expression, Kai chuckled. “Another possibility is, hyung called the wrong number.”

How could, except… “You sabotage my phone?” asked me.

Kai laughed. He told his reason changing Sehun’s number was just to be safe, to prevent Sehun from experiencing something bad. His words clearly addressed my position as the bad guy who made up bad things to Sehun. “What do you want to talk with him?”

“It’s none of your business.”

“Is… this about the life of Hunhan? Hyung just want to make sure Sehun did as you asked?” asked Kai. “Animyeon… Hyung is saving your own popularity?”

My cheeks became hot. Kai’s words stabbed right in my chest. Instead of being sarcastic, it was more precisely said that Kai was offending me. There was cynical tone he placed on the last sentence (which I think was the most precise as to why calling Sehun here).

I was worried about my popularity.

Kai’s order came. Like a kid he took a spoon of foam upon the drink’s surface and shivered in coldness. He his lips enjoying the rest of the light brown drink’s melting taste. Seeing the scene in front of me I thought I want one.

Ani, ani. Luhan, stayed focus to the conversation! Kai’s offend was surely must be paid off.

“I won’t stay still…” said Kai when I was still arranging my words. I waited for him to continue his sentence, which since the beginning sounded like a threat. “Hyung can’t do just anything. Human… only has one heart and one small scar would stay in there forever, will never be healed perfectly. Once broken, don’t hope—”

“What do you mean?” I cut.

“I won’t let you hurt Sehun.”

My laughter exploded. “Wait a minute Kim Jongin…”

“Your popularity… the more you get, the further you’ll hurt him.” Kai stopped. “Ah, I shouldn’t have said this to you…” He took out some money for his coffee macchiato and wore his hat again. Ended the talk hanging in the halfway ? “Hyung, see y—“

I grabbed his arm. “Why’d you think I’ll hurt Sehun?”

“Isn’t it clear?” Kai snapped. “You used his feeling relentlessly for your own purpose to be achieved!” Kai pulled himself from me, straighten up his clothing. “Using your own bandmate… it’s too much, but using your own bandmate’s feeling is far too cruel. Hyung have just disappointed me.”

Using?

I was using Sehun?

I let Kai leaving. My revenge would be useless since I lost my ammunition. Not because I wasn’t ready to prepare them but because I, myself, agreed with Kai’s accuse. I was just using Sehun and his feeling too. Said jerks and I thought I was counted in it.
