Darkness, anger, hate, disgust, suffering, pain, spite, anguish, torment... all of these words and more were not enough to describe Jung Yonghwa's life. In his short 18 year old life he has gone though enough troubles for three people put together. Ever since he was born he was cursed to live a life full of pain and suffering. WIthout a person in the world to care for him, he grew up not knowing what a friend was or how to be one. He had to forsake all of the things that normal people would do in order to survive. He had no time for any of the foolishness people called 'relationships.'

From childhood, he grew to hate the rich. He hated how they lived their lavish lifestyles without having to lift a single finger for them to get money. He deeply respected the hardworking people that earned their money, but the rich kids of his age made him nauseous enough to throw up. One day, however, he gets thrown into a school where he sees nothing but rich snobby kids, or so he thinks. Here he meets a busy-body know-it-all girl named Seohyun. Now he must deal with the troubles of his unfortunate life, as well as deal with the crowd of rich kids determined to ruin his life.

Characters:

Jung Yonghwa grew up being thrown from relative to relative. His only ambition in life is to make enough money to help pay his mother's medical expenses. Growing up without a father led him to live a poor and lonely life. As soon as people found out he was a bastard child, everyone deserted him. Although he is seen as a troublemaker and a gangster, he strives to succeed in both school and work. One day he gets notified that he will be transferred to the elite "Daewon Preparatory School," a school known to have the snobbiest kids in all of Seoul.

Seohyun was raised to be a proper daughter by her overbearing parents. She is the heiress to one of the most imporatnt companies in all of Asia. She is a cheerful girl that tries to become friends with everyone she meets. She goes to the prestigious "Daewon Prep" and rules one of the two major cliques in the school, the 'nerds'. Ever since she started going there her freshman year, Kim Yu Jin became her rival at absolutely everything possible. On her first day of her senoir year, she meets a cold and heartless boy named Yonghwa. As there is nobody in the school that truly hates her, she is determined to make him her friend.

Kim Yu Jin, better known as "Uee" at school, claims to be the queen of Daewon Prep. She rules the half of the school that is made up of the richest and hottest kids in the grade. She has bitterly hated Seohyun since she met her during her freshman year due to the fact that she has to always share the spotlight with her. She is arrogant and snobby and will do whatever it takes or step on whoever gets in front of her in order to reach her goals.

Seung Ri is Yu Jin's sidekick in everything that she does at school. Oddly enough he is co-ruler of the "cool kids" clique at school, yet he is the boyfriend of Seohyun. In front of Seohyun he is the hot and perfect boyfriend, but when he is with his crew, he is the biggest jackass the world has ever seen. He has earned the reputation of being the best in bed around the school and every girl would give up all they had to go out on a date with him.

** There's something that I want to point out here. The theme of being a 'bastard child' is present in the story and is one of the main reasons the problems in the story occur. For those of you that do not know what I'm talking about I'll explain it. In Korea, (from what I've heard from Korean friends and a project I once did on it with legitimate research) being a single mother is something that is pretty hard. Single mothers are often shunned by their families, especially if the child is the son of an undesired man for the family. From what I have read, people will actually avoid these mothers and not give them housing or jobs. By single mother I mean someone who had a child with a man and he ran off, widows aren't included in this. Some mothers will tell their children to not even associate with those kind of children because they find it inappropriate. Once again, I'm not Korean so I'm not saying this as a concrete fact, but I definitely have observed this.
