I was sitting on that chair again. Busby’s chair inside the boss’ office. A chair that was cursed. It wasn’t the real deal, that piece of wood, but it had the same powers. Or so it was rumored to be.

Everyone who took a seat on that chair died. Every single person.

Maybe that was just part of the job, being a freedom fighter, an anti-government investigator. It had taken me many efforts to get to the top and being considered as one of the best of the company.

Hyoyeon knew this.

She knew that I had worked very hard and almost got myself killed on the last mission. However, I wasn’t the rookie of the company anymore. I survived and took down an entire mob. It felt awesome.

I felt invincible.

“Don’t get cocky, Chen.” Hyoyeon laughed and grabbed her files. “This one will be very tough. Even for a new guy like you. You are only five months with us. Don’t screw up.”

I didn’t care that it would be tough, hard or nearly impossible.
