[check-in] Reflections on Case 02 + Plans for Case 03
in the name of loveHi everyone!
Case 02 is finally finished! We still have one more epilogue Chapter for Case 02 (Chapter 23) coming up within the next 1-2 days, but since there'll be some new characters introduced, I figured I'd do my reflections now.
For you guys who just want me to get to the meat and potatoes, below is the update schedule. I know there's been quite a bit of pushback, and I'm so sorry. The recent chapters have just been so long and I didn't want to compromise on quality, so I just took a bit longer.
Update schedule for the week
Chapter 23: Tuesday, 14 Sept Chapter 24: Thursday, 16 Sept Chapter 25: Saturday 18 Sept Chapter 26: Sunday 19 Sept / Monday 20 Sept (I will try ;_;)
Reflections on Case 02
I think I've done a lot of Case 02 analysis along the way, so I'll try not to repeat myself and keep it short and sweet.
Case 02 for me was a story of coming to terms with one's past. For Johnny, it was revisiting a very dark part of his life that he thought he'd already stowed away. Johnny's pretty much been frozen in time since his divorce, because of just how traumatizing the entire ordeal was for him - from the loss of his child to his divorce to the love of his life just disappearing. We got to see the many sides of the usually fratty, funny, happy Johnny, the side that's darker, more melancholic, maybe even a bit (quite) a coward. We also have Irene, who's been running away for a lifetime, and who realizes the path of destruction she's paved because of her own cowardice. The end of Case 2, for Irene and Johnny, isn't really the end. It's more of the beginning - the beginning of them really healing and coming to terms with their past in a healthy way.
Changmin and Victoria's story has quite a different trajectory. From being college lovers to a somewhat distanced couple, we see that love really isn't enough to sustain a marriage. I don't think either of them is fully to blame - sometimes people grow apart, sometimes they weren't meant to be together to begin with. In many ways, some of you might see Victoria as selfish, but I think for her to realize that there's a part of her life she'll regret if she just lets it slip by is something quite powerful too. The fact of the matter is that they grew apart a long time ago, but were both clinging onto remnant feelings and the family they made together. There's a little bit more wrap-up for them in Chapter 23, but I think for them the answer is that sometimes, there isn't a perfect answer, haha. You live with your choices, and there'll be pros and cons, but you'll just have
