They sat there on the corridor floor in comfortable silence for a while, backs against the wall. Kai was thinking about his friendship with Taemin. Honestly, he loved to but he knew that if there was anything serious he wanted to talk about then he could. Their relationship was special. He loved his band mates very much and they had grown a lot closer since dorming together, but he’d been with Taemin since the beginning.

FLASHBACK

Kai walked into the dance class for the first time and looked around the room. All the other trainees were much older than him so he felt too intimidated to go up to anyone and talk. The teacher walked up to the front of the room and was just about to start the class when someone burst into the room.

‘Sorry I’m late!’ he called as he threw his stuff into a corner. Kai noticed with excitement that he was around the same age as him, and his hair was cut like a mushroom.

‘You’re lucky we haven’t started yet Taemin, but get a move on!’

He took his coat off and settled in a space next to Kai. ‘Hey, you’re new right? I’m Lee Taemin.’ He bowed and grinned.

Kai felt a smile escape him as he replied ‘Kim Jongin.’

Kai and Taemin were eating lunch at Kai’s house.

‘You’re really good at dance you know’ Taemin said in a matter-of-fact tone.

‘You’re better.’ Said Kai, stating what only appeared to him as the obvious truth.

‘No, you!’

‘No,you!’ Kai stuck his tongue out.

‘Kids! You better not be arguing!’ they hear Kai’s mum shout through the doorway as they both giggled.

They were both lying on Taemin’s bed in their pyjamas trying to sleep. Kai suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around his waist snuggly.

‘Jongin-ah?’ Taemin muffled into Kai’s back.
