Ditch or Hitch: Like You Have a ChoiceAuthor POV
Kris groaned as he pushed himself up off the bed. The sharp pounding in his head and the blinding light contributed massively to his splitting headache.
He peeked to his right saw that there was a space empty of you beside him on the bed.
“Where’d she go?” he asked himself as he got up and headed downstairs.
As he crossed the living room on the way to the kitchen to find some aspirin, he crossed paths with two maids.
The maids looked up and as quickly as they noticed the marks on their master’s neck they immediately looked down.
Kris looked at them curiously and looked down at himself. He assumed that they were being bashful because he was shirtless and waved off their reactions.
When he entered the kitchen, his eyes immediately landed on you standing at a nearby counter quietly drinking tea. You were already dressed and looked as though you were prepared to go somewhere.
“You’re up early,” he commented as he opened the medicine cabinet.
You froze and slowly turned to him. Noticing that the marks Ahren left were still present and the lack of decency your husband had to cover it up peeved you to no end and caused you to scoff.
Your reaction made Kris forget about his headache for two seconds as he looked up over at you.
“Is something wrong?”
You placed your mug down into the sink. “It doesn’t look like you’re in condition to work today, you should rest. I’ll go to the office for you.”
Kris smiled softly to himself and walked over to you. “Thanks, Lei.” He was about you place a hand on your cheek but you suddenly moved away.
“Don’t touch me,” you suddenly snapped.
Taken aback, he pulled his hand back. “Oh, I’m sorry.”
“The driver’s here. I’ll get going now.”
He nodded, “Okay, I’ll come pick you up when you’re done.”
“Don’t bother,” you said as you left the kitchen.
