I Got You

Pre-chorus

Yuri rolled her eyes at the two girls in front of her. She was finally getting tired of all the bickering and the tossing of insulting words that she couldn’t even understand because it was mostly in English. She just knows it’s something bad because of how the two would react.

Yoona and Jessica stopped trying to interfere and just minded their own business.

The two went on and on but something caught the three other girls’ attention.

“Well, you’re a bad kisser and your breath smells!”

“My breath smells like heaven!” Krystal huffed and crossed her arms before discreetly checking if her breath did stink.

“How would you know she’s a bad kisser?” Yoona asked as she leaned forward, a smirk creeping up on her face.

Krystal and Tiffany both blushed. The cat was out of the bag and they’re both cornered.

The younger Jung saw her older sister’s accusing stare and she ducked her head down to avoid it.

“Fine, fine, we had yesterday.”

The three gasped in unison. Here they were thinking that the two only kissed and now Tiffany was saying they did more than that.

The older Jung was the first one to speak. She kicked her sister’s leg under the table which made the latter look up. Yoona and Yuri couldn’t help but laugh at her face that was almost as red as a tomato.

“You’ve been staying here for barely a week and you’ve already slept with someone. I am going to tell you on mom. I bet she’d fly here to drag your back to LA.”

“You and this vapid are so alike. You two are snitches!”

“Who are you calling vapid ?” Tiffany bellowed and hit Krystal’s thigh.

“You, who else?” Tiffany hit her again.

“Fany, I didn’t know you’re into girls younger than you,” Yuri commented. She then stared at Krystal who was still wincing in pain. “I never thought you’d be one to move fast, Krystal.”

The youngest whined and scowled at her favourite unnies.

“You know what I think?” Yoona started, “I think they secretly like each other.”

The said girls protested in unison. Tiffany took the more drastic measure and kicked Yoona in the shin.

“What are you doing?” Krystal asked when she saw her older sister suddenly fiddling with her phone.

“I’m texting mom.”

“No need. Mom knows I’m here. She also knows I’m going to be staying longer.”

The older girls obviously didn’t know what she was talking about so she elaborated. “I applied for this program that would send two students to South Korea for a whole semester.”

“Like a student exchange program?”

Krystal beamed at her sister and nodded. “Exactly.” She turned her attention to the girl sitting beside her and poked her nose. She laughed when she elicited a cuss from her. “I could piss you off longer.”

“I doubt that’s what you would be doing to her Krys,” Yoona teased.

“That’s it, Yoona-unnie! I like Yuri-unnie more than you now.”

Jessica, who finally got out of her daze because of her sister’s sudden announcement, frowned. “You couldn’t have told me this sooner? What if I didn’t get a two-bedroom apartment?”

“But you did so why is it a big deal? Aren’t you happy you’re going to have your cute younger sister with you?” She did the cute gesture that Jessica hated because it was just too cringe-worthy.

“You still could’ve told me sooner, you idiot.”

“Who’s the other one?” Yuri was the only one who actually bothered to ask about the other student.

“It’s this nerd who’s majoring in theoretical physics or whatever. I don’t really care because I hate his guts. It’s a good thing I could stay at Jessica-unnie’s place because if not I would be sharing a house with him.”

“Why do you hate him?”

Jessica interrupted. “Is this the guy you always talked about who didn’t give a flying about you even though you’ve tried getting his attention multiple times? Kim Jong-in, right? Or Kai as he liked to call himself.”

“Your memory’s freaky but I think it’s ,” Yoona whispered and placed a kiss on the side of her head.

“I’m not mad at him because of that,” Krystal denied but that was too late. Tiffany has already devised a plan to tick off Krystal.

“Kim Jong-in, huh?” She sipped a bit of her tea and stirred it.

Yuri and Yoona know her too well and they also know that they didn’t imagine the quick smirk she had on her face before she drank her tea. As much as they liked to warn Krystal about it, they were just too curious to know how it would pan out. They silently apologized to the younger Jung.

“Don’t say his ugly name. I hate it. I hate every fiber of his being. He should just die in a fire.” Krystal drank her soda in one go.

This would be interesting, Tiffany thought.

---

“Your sister’s not here again?” Jessica asked although she already knows the older Kim was shooting a TV guesting. That was the word going around the station earlier.

She went to the TV station for a quick tour and to meet the people she was going to be working with. That was when she heard some of the staff talking about her. It was pretty rare for Taeyeon to do a TV guesting and it was usually her band mates who go to shows. It was even rarer to see her doing it by herself.

She sighed in relief when she found out she would be leaving early and there was no chance for them to bump into each other.

“She’s taping a variety show right now. I’m surprised you two didn’t see each other there. She left earlier. She told me she had to talk to someone who works there.”

Once Yoona found the remote control, she sat beside Jessica and put an arm around the latter’s shoulder. “Why can’t we stay at your place?”

“Yuri brought her stupid video games at our apartment because my spoiled brat of a sister refuses to step foot at Tiffany’s house.”

“Why is that?”

“Something about Kai, the nerdy kid, being all chummy with Tiffany. I think my sister’s jealous. With whom, I’m not really sure.” She leaned on Yoona’s shoulder and took the remote from her. She was starting to get dizzy since Yoona refused to stop browsing the channels. “She’s ranting on how Kai is a nerdy snob and how Tiffany’s being a y flirt.”

Yoona mentally noted that she would ask Yuri about it the next day. She was positive that the younger Jung ranted about this to Yuri while they’re playing.

“I haven’t apologized for Krystal yet, have I?”

“Apologize for what?” Yoona played with Jessica’s hair as the latter mindlessly stare at whatever it is on TV.

“For her sort of hooking up with Tiffany. I mean, she’s your ex-girlfriend and a good friend of yours. I feel like it’s my responsibility to say sorry for my sister’s idiotic ways.”

Yoona just chuckled. “Tiffany’s a big girl. She can take care of herself.”

The two fell silent for a moment. Jessica’s curiosity got the best of her and she couldn’t stop herself from asking Yoona the question that has been bothering her ever since she and Taeyeon stopped talking. “Is your sister dating anyone?”

“Eh?”

She sat up straight again but held the younger girl’s hand. She then saw the teasing smirk adorning her pretty face.

“Why? Are you interested in her?”

“NO!”

Yoona was taken aback with how Jessica took her harmless joke. “Okay, okay, you don’t have to shout. That’s a relief though and to answer your question, no, I don’t think she’s dating anyone.”

Even though Yoona didn’t explain further, she knew extremely well why she said that. The worry of how things would go if they ever decided to be in an actual relationship came back again.

Yoona went to the kitchen to make snack and returned shortly with sliced fruits on a bowl. “Hey, I’ve been thinking, we should go out on a date again. It’s been a while since we’ve been on one.”

She munched on an apple while her free hand fed Jessica.

“We go out on dates all the time. What the heck are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about something more special and just us. The ‘dates’ you’re talking about, most of it involves my friends and your sister, the recent ones at least.”

Yoona leaned on the couch’s arm rest and motioned Jessica to lay down with her. Jessica took the bowl from her and lay down.

If they both were given a choice to do other fun things over snuggling like this, they’d definitely choose the latter. They would’ve picked doing something that sends this fluffy feeling and butterflies in their stomach over something that’ll give them occasional stress and worry.

“What do you like doing the most?” Jessica already has the answer on the tip of her tongue but Yoona decided to be specific. “Besides sleeping.”

“I like swimming.”

Yoona couldn’t help but cuss. “.”

Jessica giggled when she remembered something. “You can’t swim, can you?”

“Yes, I can.”

Liar.

“Really? Okay. Tomorrow we should go to a water park.”

Yoona chuckled nervously. “It’s not even summer anymore. It’s going to be cold.”

Jessica feigned her sadness. “Too bad. I really wanted to swim.”

The younger girl easily bought her acting so she decided that she’d find a way to make that happen.

---

“Why can’t I go with you? What’s in the bag? Are you two going to be out for long?” A bunch of other questions came pouring in while Yoona waited for Jessica to get ready. She was mentally blaming the guy, Kai, because if it wasn’t for him, Krystal would’ve been at Tiffany’s place and not here asking thousands of questions.

“We’ll only be out for the night. We’ll come home tomorrow. She has to rest and prepare for her first day so we can’t stay there for long.” Yoona yawned. She woke up early today and now it’s almost six in the evening.

“Where will you be going?”

“It’s a secret.”

Krystal flailed her arms. “Oh come on, I need to know. What if our parents called? What would I tell them? What if you’re actually a kidnapper and—“

“I’m done. Let’s go?”

Jessica emerged from her room wearing a simple tee, a pair of skinny jeans and her favourite pair of loafers.

“Krystal’s assaulting me with questions,” she complained and carried Jessica’s bag for her.

Jessica her sister’s back and kissed her cheek. “We’ll be going now. Be good. Try calling Yuri again.”

“They’re hanging out with nerdy Kai,” Krystal whined and plopped down on the sofa.

“ for you. Call Sooyoung or something.” Before Krystal could complain again, she and Yoona headed towards the door and went to the basement parking.

“I’ll drive.”

Jessica shrugged and took the front seat. She had no idea where they were going but she trusts that Yoona won’t bring her somewhere horrible like a field of cucumbers.

They arrived shortly at the front of the Renaissance Seoul Hotel. The trip there was so short, the two of them could’ve walked.

“What are we going to do here?” Jessica took in the interior of the hotel and immediately noticed the staff who was wearing a hanbok.

She was expecting for them to go to the front desk to check in but Yoona pulled her and they headed towards the elevator.

“I have a surprise for you but we have to eat dinner first. I’ve already checked in earlier so it wouldn’t be too much of a hassle.”

They checked out the room and left their things there before going to one of the restaurants where Yoona booked a reservation. Jessica wanted to change her clothes but Yoona opposed.

“Other people who would be eating there are already at a disadvantage. If you change into a nicer outfit, everyone’s attention would be on you and I’m not sure I want that to happen. Give the other women there a chance to look better than you…although I still highly doubt that would happen.”

Yoona laughed when Jessica hit her arm. She was already expecting that to happen. She’s known the girl for months now and she noticed that every time she said something remotely sweet to her, she’d be getting a pinch or a light slap on the arm.

The two ate dinner at Irodori. Jessica hid a small smile when she remembered saying the other day that she was craving for Japanese food. She admired Yoona for being attentive and thoughtful.

When they finished their dinner, the two went up to their room again and Yoona brought out something from her bag. “You need to wear these,” she said as she held up a pair of red bikini.

“Why?”

“You said you wanted to go swimming so we’re going to go for a swim. The hotel has an indoor pool.”

Jessica squinted her eyes and took the article of clothing from Yoona’s hand. “You planned this.”

“Of course, I did.”

“You and your schemes…just to see me wearing a bikini, really?”

“That wasn’t what I planned but I’m glad it went along with what my actual plans are for the night.” Yoona grinned while Jessica stared at her amusingly.

“Where’s yours?”

Yoona brought out another pair. It wasn’t as skimpy as Jessica’s though.

“That’s cheating. Yours aren’t too revealing.”

“I’m not as well-endowed as you are, that’s why.” Yoona pushed Jessica towards the bathroom so she could change while she changed right there.

Yoona was expecting Jessica to come out of the bathroom clad in a bikini but she came out wearing a pair of denim shorts and the tee that she was wearing earlier. She too was wearing something over her swimsuit.

Jessica smirked. “I bet you were thinking you’d be seeing me in a bikini.” She grabbed a towel and the bathrobe that was provided by the hotel and the two of them made their way to the hotel’s indoor swimming pool.

“Wow,” she muttered as they entered the dimly lit area. There was an oval-shaped pool and you can see the view outside through the laminated glass panel. There were tables and chairs on the side where the guests could lounge. “I think the view would’ve been better if we went here in the morning though but I still like the lights from the other buildings.”

“Trust me, this is better.”

They put their things on one of the tables and as Jessica started stripping the clothes that she wore over the swim wear Yoona’s eyes glinted in anticipation.

“Hey, no fair. Take yours off too.” Jessica held the hem of Yoona’s shirt and lifted it off of her.

“It’s kind of silly of us to act like we’ve never seen each other , don’t you think?” Yoona teased when she saw Jessica’s cheeks turning pink.

“It’s different though. We’re both wearing something.”

“That’s the difference?” Yoona giggled at Jessica’s cute response.

“Shut up.” She proceeded in taking off the rest of her clothes and put it next to the towel and robe.

“How do you look gorgeous in anything you wear?”

Jessica pouted cutely and looked at herself and what she was wearing. “Are you sure you’re not being sarcastic?”

 “I’m not.”

Jessica walked away from her and towards the pool, dipping her toe in the water. “Come on, let’s jump in.”

“You go ahead. I’ll go down here.” She walked and held on the handrails. She watched as Jessica shrugged before diving gracefully into the water. “So much for jumping in,” she mumbled.

Jessica emerged from the water and from Yoona’s point of view, it looked like one of those scenes from a movie she’s watched where the girl emerges from the water and her hair still looks perfect.  She couldn’t help but marvel at the sight. That was one thing she definitely doesn’t want anyone else to see but her and she said a silent ‘Thank you’ since no one else was there. Some luck.

Jessica swam towards Yoona and she removed the scrunchy on her wrist to tie her hair. “I really wish I’m a dolphin sometimes,” she said all of a sudden.

“What?”

“I love swimming and sleeping. Dolphins can do both at the same time by just letting half of their brain conscious. Isn’t that cool?”

Yoona patted her head but that was a mistake. Jessica grabbed her hand and forcefully pulled her towards the center of the pool where it’s much deeper.

“Jessica, what are you doing?”

“We’re going to swim, Yoona-unnie.”

Yoona was getting more and more nervous as the water started reaching . Jessica just wanted her to admit that she can’t swim but Yoona was being stubborn and now she was feeling guilty as she saw the fear in the younger girl’s eyes.

She squealed when she slipped and felt herself submerging in the water. Before she fully went under water, she felt Jessica holding her up. “I got you. Relax and just hold onto me.”

Yoona nodded and wiped the water from her face using her free hand. “I’m sorry. I should’ve told you I can’t swim from the get-go but I didn’t want you to think I’m that lame.”

“Why would you even think that?”

“Because Yuri calls me lame every time we go to a water park and I stay on the shallow pools for kids,” she wrapped her arm around Jessica while the latter swam further away.

Jessica looked sideways and saw Yoona’s lips forming into a pout. “Your relationship dynamics with Yuri is very interesting. It’s like having a best friend—“

“And a mortal enemy all in one. You and Hyoyeon-unnie aren’t like that?”

“We are sometimes but with us it’s very physical. If anyone saw us while we’re out together, they’d think we’re beating each other up.”

They reached the part of the pool where Yoona can’t even reach the floor with her feet anymore even on her tippy toes. Jessica slowly detached herself from Yoona but still held to her arms. “Try jumping a bit to stay afloat.” Yoona did was she was told but she kept a firm grip on Jessica’s wrists. “You remind me of my ever ironic cousin named Sooyoung. Ironic because her name means ‘swimming’ and it’s something that she’s not even remotely capable of doing.”

Yoona looked below and saw Jessica trying to stay afloat by moving her legs.

The older girl saw the perplexed look on her face. “Why didn’t you try to learn how to swim?” she asked since it was one of those topics that she and Taeyeon never touched. Taeyeon only told her that Yoona couldn’t swim.

“I did when I was a kid with Yuri. It was before our mom got diagnosed with cancer. Yuri was doing so well that it sort of discouraged me from learning how to do it. I decided it was going to be her thing and I’d find another thing that I could be good at. I was competitive like that.”

“So did you find something that you’re good at?”

“Badminton,” Yoona stated proudly.

The arrogance in her voice only made it funnier for Jessica. “That’s kind of lame.”

“It’s not!”

“Let’s name one instance that you can use your badminton skills and I can use my swimming skills to save someone’s life. I can use mine when I see someone fall in the water because I can swim. What about you?”

Yoona grew agitated by the second because she couldn’t think of any. “Sport skills aren’t intended to save people’s lives!”

“Whatever.” Jessica splashed water on her face. “You can’t float either? That’s one of the basics, right?”

“I quit on the first day. I didn’t learn anything. I will float if I drown and die though.”

“I like your morbid humor.” Jessica giggled. “I’ll teach you how to float on your back then. You’re going to have to relax and trust that I won’t let you drown, okay?”

Yoona nodded and smiled. The smile on her face was immediately wiped away with Jessica’s last remark. “Even little kids can do this.”

Jessica instructed her to let her back fall on the water and told her to just relax and that she’d be holding her back. “Relax,” she told her when she saw Yoona trying to keep her head on the surface of the water. “Keep your ears submerged in the water.”

“What if water goes inside my ear?”

“It won’t. Just do it correctly.”

“How am I—“

“Don’t tense up. I’m here,” Jessica told her reassuringly. She put a hand under Yoona’s nape and noticed that she was still straining it. “Relax everything.”

“I can’t! It’s hard to relax.”

“Don’t think about anything. How can relaxing be so hard?”

They continued the small banter for a few minutes before Jessica finally had enough of it. “What exactly do I have to do make you relax?”

Yoona grinned. “Kiss me.”

The older girl scoffed and rolled her eyes. “I’m not gonna buy that.”

“When you kiss me, I automatically relax. I swear.”

Jessica wanted to just smack her head for trying to trick her into making out in the pool but she eventually gave in. After looking around if anyone was around and finding no one but a staff who was cleaning the floor, she leaned down and kissed Yoona’s lips.

Yoona started kissing back and true to her word, she started relaxing and she felt Jessica slowly removing her hand from her back.

A few seconds passed and Jessica broke the kiss with a huge grin on her face. “You’re floating. You’re actually doing it.”

Yoona with wide open tried to not freak out when Jessica swam a bit further away from her. “Where are you going?”

“Try moving towards me by paddling your feet.”

“I don’t think I can do that just yet.”

“Just try.” After coaxing her to do it, Yoona finally did and Jessica waited for her a few feet away. Yoona reached the part of the pool where her feet can touch the floor and Jessica decided it would be fun to splash some more water on her face.

“YAH!” Yoona shouted, slightly choking because of the water.

Jessica deadpanned and said, “Are you really going to talk to me that way? Are you forgetting that I’m older than—AAH!” She let out an ear-piercing scream when she suddenly heard a loud blast from outside.

Both of them looked up and saw the stunning fireworks display. Yoona looked over her shoulders and saw Jessica flinch at the sound. She pulled her and gently covered Jessica’s ears, making her look up to see the grand display of pyrotechnics.

Jessica smiled at her before turning her attention outside once again. “That was really beautiful,” she exclaimed when it was over.

“I picked this hotel because I wanted you to see that. Yuri told me about the concert down the block and that there was going to be a fireworks display so I did a few research and found about their indoor pool with a view outside.”

Jessica was clearly impressed with how Yoona intricately planned all of this for her. “Why put that much effort?”

The two were now leaning on the side of the pool with Yoona’s hand placed on the small of Jessica’s back and the latter’s head leaning on Yoona’s shoulder.

“I like you that much,” Yoona muttered shyly.

The older of the two moved her head away and stared at Yoona. She treasured this moment because a shy Yoona was pretty rare. Her only reply to Yoona’s confession was a kiss to the cheek.

Chapter 33: I'm sorry but I start to think that you must be one of Carmilla web series' writers, you're either jordan hall or ellen simpson. I mean I got all the Carmilla vibes in your story after I reread it again. and there's no way this was inspired by that web series because it came out way earlier than that. I read this years ago, and carmilla was only last year. Or maybe it's just me being obsessed with your works and carmilla.
