"Why are you praying for me?" I cough out. 

     He stops and looks straight at me, our eyes making contact.

     "Because you're family."

     I don't think I heard him correctly. It's the sounds of the whining sirens that make it impossible to head. Or maybe the fact that I' drifting. 

     Either way, I smile. And so does he. One good thing before I black out.
