It was hours before Myung Soo finally settled down and the sun filtering through the slits of the curtain became more of an orange colour. The room darkened; though, this fact did not bother the two figures still lying on the single King bed at the corner of the room.   Myung Soo lifted up his hand and traced the line of Amber’s collarbone absentmindedly, only to be surprised when a mewl was released. Amber laughed and shrugged him off.   “Don’t!” she droned. “It tickles!”   He grinned as his mischievous side was summoned. He pressed his lips on the plane of her neck and flicked his tongue on the skin. She gasped in bewilderment and giggled as she used her both hands to grab his face up and held his gaze.   “Seriously, Myung! No,” she enunciated and jerked reflexively when his warm large hands were placed on her sensitive waist.   He groaned and buried himself in her neck. “! Why do you have to be so ing irresistible?!”   The way she called him by his birth name sounded so y, he just could not explain why.   She stared at him as if he was crazy and that was when he realised he was acting out of character, the character that she knew him by in the past five years or so.   He sighed and averted his eyes as he felt heat spreading across his face. “You are… you just are.”   “Alright, Myung, did you hit your head on something? Or did this event just turn you crazy?” She gave a look of wonder or confusion or incredulity.   He sighed deeply, “I’m a liar.” He grunted through gritted teeth. “I’ve lied to you all this time.”   She said nothing as she remained motionless, watching him.   In normal circumstances, he wouldn’t be in his right mind to be telling her all of these. But in this moment, when adrenaline had been pumped around his body through his blood, risky behaviours were seen as simple endeavours.   “When I met you in kindergarten, I wanted to marry you.”   She gasped with big gobsmacked eyes, stiffening underneath him. “What are you talking about? You’re the one who keeps telling me how ugly and fat I am!” She seemed infuriated by his statement and demanded for an explanation.   He ignored his wildly beating heart and the fact that he was stuttering as he talked, they just flew out of his mouth as if begging for a release. “When other boys showed interest in you, I got jealous and I just wanted to get rid of everything about you that interested them. I hate it when other guys see you like I see you. I want to be the only one who gets to see your smile, to touch your hair, to hug you when I want to, and get to enter your world when nobody else is allowed in! But I realised that I was being selfish and it wasn’t healthy! I felt like I was obsessed with you and that’s not right. I want you, but I don’t want to take away your freedom. So, I pushed you away. I kept telling you how ugly you are, when in reality, I think the opposite. You’re not ugly, you’re beautiful—no, that sounds really cheesy! But you are not ugly!” He searched for her reaction in her eyes, but he was given with doubts in there. “And you’re not fat, you’re perfect! You don’t know how many times and how long I’ve tried to get you out of my mind! It wasn’t until two years ago that I realised I’ve ruined you by pushing you away and giving you negative remarks that aren’t even true!”   She shoved him off her and glared at him. “Are you serious, Myung Soo?! After all this time, after all the bullying I’ve received from you, after all the you put me through, the explanation you can give me is that you’re in love with me?!”   He was about to retort when her words made him choke his own. His defensive argument was at the tip of his tongue, but having that statement, that fact being told by her made him mentally, physically, and emotionally incapable to form any words. That fact had slapped him hard across the face and he was now going through the burning after-pain as he gaped at her like a fish.   “You have got to be kidding me,” she continued, clearly unimpressed by this revelation. “What do you expect me to say, huh? You don’t understand how much it hurts to hear such remarks from your friend, especially your best friend! I can’t believe I even considered you as one!” She threw a punch on his chest, “Do you think I’m going to forgive you like that?! Argh!”   She made a move to push him away and get off the bed, but he pulled her back out of panic, “I do know that I’ve hurt you emotionally and sorry is not going to correct the past, but what am I supposed to do to fix what I’ve done? I’ve gone too far now and I don’t feel good about it either! I didn’t know how long I’d live with this lie for, but now I know that I don’t want to lose you like I lost Dad!”   She faltered as she stared back at him in irresolution and frustration.
