NERFELDEN - A HISTORY

Long ago, before the time of the split of Nerfelden, there was a war which raged across the land. Men were challenged by the demons that had managed to escape their entrapment called the Scaren and caused chaos through the land. It was long, it was bloody, and many people died protecting the land. Eventually, it was decided that the only way to stop the war was to create seals to act as a barrier between both worlds, and so the 12 seals of Aramenthia were made by 12 of the most powerful men to seal Scaren away from Nerfelden. The seals were named after the Queen Aramenthia, who was ruling at the time. These mighty warriors sacrificed themselves to create these seals, but not before creating a powerful spell to pass on the duties of protecting their seals to their descendents for many, many, years to come. This spell affected many of their grandson's grandsons, but soon the protecters forgot their purpose, and the spell and the seals protection was soon forgotten. The seals became so powerful that they began to fuel and control Nerfelden’s life source. These seals give the plants life, the animal’s food, and the races of Nerfelden everything they will ever need to live and survive. These seals were scattered across the land of Nerfelden, protected by the people they reside with. But someone now threatens the balance of power.

Daejung, King of Barenfell, fell prey to the temptation of the myths surrounding each seal, and broke the seal within his castle. It unleashed a mighty demon from the Scaren, which took possession of the king and poisoned his mind with false promises of power and Nerfelden to be his to control, and thus began to seek out the other seals to gain more power. Daejung’s twin brother, Jinho, who is also King of Avalentis, tried to reason with his brother and stop him from upsetting the balance, but he failed, and Daejung declared war on his brother. Thus Daejung created the Exodius, calling on the many dark creatures of the land, and Jinho made the Free Alliance, fighting to free his people from his brother and protect the seals.

It is now a time when the destined protectors of the seals have been long forgotten by all apart from the elders of the Elves and the Dragons. They know these protectors hold the key to stopping this war, but in finding them may take away their lives. Are they desperate enough to do so?

The land of Nerfelden is split down the middle of the country, a result of a catastrophic earthquake which occured hundreds of years ago, but after the battle of Scaren. The west side belongs to The Free Alliance, with Avalentis as the Capital, and many other fruitful cities and towns, and the top of the country is ridged with the Talia Mountains which then join onto a huge forest down the Western coast named Pernyá Forest. It is said that the Light Elves of Nerfelden reside within the Pernyá Forest and their hidden city Liriendell, and the woods are heavily laced with magic and very odd sightings, so much so that many people dare not stray past its border. The east side of Nerfelden belongs to the Exodius, with Barenfell as its Capital. The land here is barren and dying. Many villagers had to move to the capital because of the lack of crops, thus making it overpopulated and cramped. Near the south lies the Sarenha Desert, and in the very centre of this desert lies Coronthia, home of the desert people. They are secretive and keep to themselves and not many people can brave the blistering heat and rampant sand storms. To the North, where the Talia Mountains cross the border, lie the Dark Elves. They lie in wait amongst their ridged rocks of buildings and castles in Warfendell, and wait to claim the Light Elves’ land as their own.

Welcome to my new fantasy story 'The 12 Seals of Aramenthia'!

I completely blame Navi_7769 for the creation of this fic, so I'm not going to hesitate in saying that her stories 'The Legends' gave me the inspiration to write this fic although I have done my best to avoid all sorts of plagiarization. I wrote the original storyline for this about a year ago, when it had no connection to EXO or anything of the like, but I only really got around to writing the prologue, so after lots of mixing around (which there was a lot of because originally there was one female lead character, not 12 male ones so I had to change a lot xD) I now present you with this! I've also been inspired by the likes of Christopher Paolini and Brandon Sanderson, because they are my favourite authors, and I never seemed to mention that fantasy is my favourite genre too! >< I went for the Tolkien look for the map because LOTR is such an epic series.
