The girl slept uneasily, with her mother at her side.

The nurse cast sad eyes over in their direction; the girl on the bed had little

time left. She offered a sympathetic look to the mother, who's tear stained cheeks

stirred compassion within the nurse. Then the monitors beeped as Soo Jin woke up.

She looked at the nurse, her big brown eyes wide and dark against her pale skin.

"I'm not going to be much longer, am I?"

She asked, in a soft, velvety voice.

The nurse's shoulders dropped as she shook her head, trying not to cry.
