--

Amu looked at the vast open sky and hoping that the horizon in front of her will come closer and swallow her whole. She intertwined her fingers after leaving a heavy sigh as she rested her head on the window pane, feeling traces of silver liquid pouring down on her face.

She took the chance to turn around and take a painful glimpse of her own boyfriend under white sheets, breathing normally like an angel sleeping. However, the sight of many tubes and some needles attached to his body is undeniably hard to look at.

At once, the screeching sound of cars banged inside her head continually interfered with her own chain of thoughts - reminiscing the time when that accident occurred.

It’s only like yesterday when Keito managed to save Amu from the fast moving car approaching her. After seeing the vehicle coming her way, a great shock was felt that made her whole body frozen. The next thing she knew is feeling a strong push that made her drop on the street and just saw Keito lying next to her with a bleeding head.

--

“Amu-chan~ why don’t you go home even just for today?” Amu’s reminiscing was awoken by the familiar sound of her best friend’s voice, worryingly patting her shoulder lightly.

“I’m okay Rio~ I want to stay here till he open his eyes…” she said weakly, clearly suffering from lack of sleep. She took a deep breath until the sound of the creaking door gain both their attention.

“Mrs. Okamoto…” Amu smiled weakly in her presence. She bowed her head slightly and saw another man wearing a white coat tagging along the petite woman in front of her. Mrs Okamoto looked down and started eyeing the body peacefully laid on the white bed which she immediately knew to be her own offspring.

This sight is enough to make Amu die inside before she heard the doctor proclaim his depressing news.

“I’m afraid we can only make him stay here for a week…” the doctor said calmly but didn’t fail to bring deep sighs of regret in every sentence… “This machine is the only thing giving him life… I’m afraid we don’t have the facilities to make him better so you have to make a firm choice” he stated before leaving glances at the people inside the room including Keito.

Amu just waited for more explanation from the latter but he’s suddenly interrupted by the cracking sound of Mrs Okamoto’s voice.

“Amu-chan…” she started… “I know this was an accident… I’m sorry I started blaming you before about this… b-but… I know my son saved you because he loves you” the poor woman held Amu’s hand and slightly wiped her own tears…

“But I decided to take him back to England since there is a chance for him to receive more treatment there… I already arranged our flight the day after tomorrow” the petite woman continued and saw Amu’s face covered with her tears.
Amu managed to look at Keito’s figure but this sight was enough to build up all her frustrations, blaming herself for what happened. The numbness of her knees took over her emotions that led her to the ground… “And whatever happens… Even he survives; we’re not coming back…”

“I understand…” she whispered silently as she saw the fading figure of Mrs Okamoto with the doctor guiding her to the door.

---

*next day*

Amu pulled herself up and tried her best to smile before clicking the door open. She decided to get fruits for Keito but a familiar figure made her stop from entering the door. As soon as their eyes met, the girl wearing her casual attire approached Amu and lifted her hand towards her face. It was an immediate action but Haruna gave a big shock on Amu after receiving a hard slap.

Amu froze and just looked back at her.

“This is your entire fault!!” Haruna cried… “If it wasn’t for you, Keito would’ve been with me right now!” she continued, rage evident on her face.

“I was wrong to give up and give him to you Amu-chan… And since this happened, I will never let him be at your side again!” she continued and pushed Amu aside and gave herself the chance to leave the room… “I’m going with him in England, so you might as well think about forgetting him… or much better, think that he died and he’ll never come back to you ever again” Haruna whispered that made a striking pain on Amu’s chest.

--

“Think that he died and he’ll never come back to you ever again…”

Those words lingered through Amu’s head as she tried her best to hinder her own tears from falling. Amu sat beside Keito’s bed and started caressing his face starting on his eye lids down to his soft lips. She looked helplessly at his figure and reminisced the time they were together.

“You’re better off without me… Good bye Keito~” she whispered through the air after leaving a soft peck on his pale cheek.

It’s not long when Mrs Okamoto entered the room and smiled faintly at her figure. Amu knows for a fact that Mrs Okamoto is trying her best to be nice to her. The sight of the lady giving saddened looks is enough to make Amu blame herself more.

Before she could say anything, Mrs Okamoto handed something to Amu that she figured out to be a bracelet.

“Amu-chan…” she started whilst pulling her hand towards herself and placed her son’s bracelet on the surface of her palm… “Keito was keeping this inside his cabinet for a while now… He always tells me not to throw it away since it’s your birthday gift” the lady sniffed and smiled again at her.

Amu eyed the piece of jewellery like a piece of gold and hugged it tightly.

“This is the last thing I will receive from him… I’ll treasure it forever... His last memory~”

--

*1 year later*

It’s been a year after Keito left Japan and the thoughts of him never left Amu’s mind. She still can’t process all the happening and the idea that she’s the one who caused for him to be hurt is still hurting her.

Not even a single piece of news about Keito was heard… not even one.

She just prays every day that he survived his operation and is now living peacefully with his family and maybe his new girlfriend Haruna. She looked at her wrist and saw a perfectly placed bracelet on which left a faint smile across her face.

Being captured by the sight of her own treasure given by Keito, the next thing she heard is the sound of the doorbell capturing the attention of all the people in the house.

“Nee-chan! Open the door!!!” her brother lazily ordered that made her force herself to click the heavy door open.

--

“Hmmm~ I have a special delivery to Ms. Sayashi Amu…” a voice said. Amu looked at the figure and can’t help but to notice the familiarity of his build. However, his attire and his hat were not helpful enough to guess who it was…

“A parcel for me?” she asked the delivery man… “May I ask from whom?” she paused for a moment and wondered.

“From the man you loved and the man who love you ever since” he replied and revealed himself to Amu. Seeing Amu in shock, he immediately held her hand and pulled her closer.

“Y-You… I-I…” Amu struggled to form coherent sentence as the sight of Keito was just too much for her. She just can’t believe how much she missed his touch, his voice, his face… his everything. She tried hard enough to make all her thoughts sink in but all she managed to do is cry… “Thank God you’re alive!” she whispered.

“You cried enough for me Amu… And maybe God gave me another good chance to pay you back~” Keito said and left a full kiss on Amu’s lips… “Thank God he gave me another chance to love you still…”
