Author's Note: I'm just experimenting some stuff... I randomly thought of this 'weird' plot and I wanted to suddenly let it out of my chest... 
anyway, I failed this once again but I just hope you'll understand the story... *grins*

*Yamada Rio's POV*


 
Here I am...sitting next to my best friend Ruu-chan, enjoying my sailor moon cosplay costume.

I don't really want to attend this kind of event. I admit that I'm an otaku... But not to an extent that I'll join these kind of cosplay games. Besides... wearing a mini skirt is way out of my league...


How did I end up here? It all started 2 days ago. 

 
//flashback//


"Come on Rio... I need you there. I don't want to be alone." I felt Ruu-chan tugging my sleeve, persuading me since 7am in the morning to join her in her scheme.

 
"Why? Give me one good reason why I should go with you... You know I hate that kind of stuff right?" I replied and then scratched the back of my head.
 

"Okay... I'll give you one good reason!!! Because I'm your best friend... And I'll be lonely in that anime convention without anyone." she pulled her signature 'puppy dog eyes' before me then continued pulling my sleeve.


"You can go to that anime convention yourself... I like anime and manga but I don't like cosplaying... So please leave me in peace" I pulled half my sleeve and walked towards the door of my house hoping she's going to give up on it.

 
However, she blocked our door way and looked down on me (since she's a bit taller).
"I know what will make you agree..." she smirked and gave me a cheeky look.

I patiently waited to her approach... And then, she answered.

 
"I bought a sailor moon costume for you and me... We can be like sisters there. It will be fun..." she jumped up and down while shaking me.

 
By this, I looked at her in an amazed expression...


"I don't have time for this Ruu... I need to work so I can buy a present for my little brother. He's turning 10 soon."

"Really? What are you planning to give Ryota-kun? Maybe I can help you save up..." she smiled.

 
Ruu-chan is one of the best people I know. And yes! She's quite rich... I don't even know why she wants to be my friend even though I'm a poor clumsy girl... But I don't want to depend on her in regards to money.


"I'm planning to get him a decent cell phone since I know everyone on his class has one already..." I sighed and faced my best friend again.

 
"A cell phone? Hmmmm..." she thought for a while and suddenly, I saw her face lit up... "Ahhhhhhh!!!! Oh my gosh... I almost forgot..."
 

"You're in luck Rio-chan... In that anime convention we're going to, they're giving away a free cell phone in the raffle draw. You should totally join..." she said excitedly.
 

"Really? What are the chances of winning that?" I asked sarcastically.

 
"You should at least try... Besides, it's free. And you can enjoy the night with me in a sailor moon costume."

I sighed heavily and admitted defeat. I know she'll never leave me alone until I agree. I might as well make her happy and join her in that
anime convention... I'm still having my hopes up for the free cell phone to give my beloved brother.


"Okay okay... You win... But please don't let me cosplay." I said softly and patted her shoulder.
 

"Why not? It will be fun!!!" she replied and hugged me immediately... "Arigatou... You're the best."
 

//end of flashback//


 
"Ladies and gentlemen... Can I have your attention please" I heard the MC of the event announced over his microphone... "The much awaited raffle draw will now be held..."

 
With much anticipation, I grabbed Ruu-chan's hand and walked towards the centre stage. For some reason, I feel nervous. I really really want to win that phone for my brother. I will definitely kiss someone who will give me a free cell phone right now. Yes! I love my brother that much.


Within seconds, I felt people pushing through my back. I can feel they're also interested in the prize.

 
I heard some whispering and then silence was felt when the MC placed his hand on the box where I know I put my name in...
I saw him pull a piece of paper and spread it on his palm. It took a few moments of silence before the winner is announced which gave a suspense atmosphere across the room.
 

"And the winner of our brand new cell phone is..."

 
Before everything else, I felt my heart thump a few times. I squeezed Ruu's hand and waited patiently for the announcement, hoping that my name will be called.


"Yamada Ryo-chan... Congratulations!!!" I heard the announcer shouted with much enthusiasm.

 
By that, I thought for awhile... Wait!! That's my name, right?
He said my name? That's me!! I won...
I immediately ran up the stage within seconds and reached out my hand to the MC.

 
However, to my surprise, another person beat me on the announcer's hand.
He even thanked the MC for giving him the phone.
 

"Wait!! I won, right?" I asked the MC up stage. I frowned and looked at the boy who was already carrying a white bag which I definitely know contained my beloved cell phone.


I felt all eyes looking at me for this matter. However, I don't even care. All I want is my prize.

 
"ehh?" the MC gave off a confused expression.
Immediately, I saw him look at the piece of paper again.

"It says in here... Yamada RYOSUKE... What's your name miss?" he turned to me then to the boy standing next to him who seems to be in a confused state as well. 

 
"That's right... Yamada Rio-- ehh??" I then realised that the MC announced a similar name to mine which is 'Yamada Ryo'...
 

Yes! That's right... in an instance, humiliation came to me... I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. I can’t! I just can’t feel my legs for this matter.
By this, I just looked my feet and led my way down stage... I don't even know if everyone is laughing. I just can't hear anything as I felt that there is something blocking my ears. Everything around me seems to be so silent.

"That was really embarrassing..." I heard Ruu-chan say whilst patting my back gently...

 
"Urusai!!!"


I then slumped down my chair heavily. I heard her laugh at me even more then turned in my comfort. I felt her palm rubbing my back and leaned her chin on my shoulder.


"I didn't know Yama-chan is here... He's so lucky... And so cute" I heard her say beside my ear.

 
"You know him?" I asked with amazement.


"Of course!!! I actually came here to see him, and of course, Yuto-kun..." She immediately lifted her head up and then sighed admiringly while looking at the ceiling... "Wait... You DON'T know him?"


By this, I just shrugged my head.

"Oh my gosh... I can't believe you don't even know him... He's an idol! He's Yamada RYOSUKE of Hey! Say! Jump!!!"
 

"Woahhh?? He's an idol? No wonder he looks familiar... But I can't forgive him for getting my beloved cell phone..." I clenched my fist and then slumped down my head against the table. I'm not really surprised that I didn't know he's an idol. I'm busy enough to think about my own life's matters that I wouldn't have much time to think about the entertainment industry. Ruu-chan seems to be different from me. Being updated to all stuff around her is just part of her own nature.


Having this in thought, a sudden great thought come across my mind... This is definitely one of my 'light bulb' moments.
 

"Ahhhhhhh!!! He's an idol, right?" I asked to confirm... Ruu-chan just nodded at me with a confused expression...

"That means he's rich!!! He doesn't need that cell phone... Maybe I can beg him to give it to me." I sniggered and made my way towards the man who won 'my' prize. 

 
"Are you crazy?" I heard my best friend cry. She tried to grab the end of my skirt but failed to pull me... The next thing I know, I was in front of the boy because of desperation.

"anou... Sumimasen..." I gulped a few times after seeing his beautiful coloured hair... "Can I ask you a favour?"


After this, I saw his figure moving gently towards my direction. Unlike others he is not wearing any cosplay costume. I just noticed how cool he was wearing his red waistcoat. Within a flash, I saw his eyes slightly covered by his fringe as he looked up from where he’s sitting. His fair complexion appeared before me which made my heart sink down my chest. "Woahh... He even looks more feminine than me..."I thought to myself.

"Can I help you?"

 
His sudden remark made me come up to reality. “That's right! I'm asking him a favour...” I reminded myself and started speaking...
However, before I even open my mouth, he spoke in a deep yet insulting tone.


"Ahhh... You're the one who was tried to get my prize a while ago, right?" he smirked at me... "You’re interesting. So, what is it?"

 
"Hmmmm... I'm just wondering if you can give the cell phone to me instead..." I said abruptly, not really thinking what reply he will give me.

 
"Why would I give it to you? I won this fairly. It's not like I owe you something..." he said arrogantly then turned to the opposite direction.

 
"Ehhh?? You're an idol, right? You probably have like a million phones... What will you do with another one?" I asked almost in a shout.

 
"I'll probably sell it on eBay or something... I think this will cost a fortune." I heard him say quite teasingly. I saw his figure still intact to his chair, sipping his drink through a narrow straw. This view just made me annoyed even more.


 
“Yama-chan… stop teasing her.” I heard a boy next to him say with a chuckle. I didn’t notice him before but these two look very familiar to me.


“I’m not teasing her Yuto. I think I’m just telling the truth.” he turned to the boy next to him and then took another sip on his juice.
By this, I snapped... I never thought an idol could be this arrogant.

 
"You know what? You're probably the most arrogant idol I know!!" I pouted then stumped my feet towards Ruu-chan's direction who seems to be hiding in her seat.

Yet, with a flick of a finger, I felt someone grabbing my arm... I looked around then found his hand against my skin.

"I'll give it to you if you want..." I heard him say with a cold tone of voice... "In one condition... Take back those words."
 

"I don't want it anymore! You can keep that stupid cell phone..." I took back my arm then grabbed my bag which is laid beside Ruu-chan's chair.

"Let's go Ruu-chan... I have enough of this already." I said angrily then pulled my best friend's hand.

"Rio-chan... What to do? There's no more taxi going here?" I heard my best friend faintly said while me, on the other hand is still trying to gather my senses about what happened earlier.

I just clenched my fist because of annoyance while thinking about ‘him’. What was his name again? He's cute and all but an arrogant man like him is definitely not my type. He even embarrassed me with so many people...

 
"Oi! Are you listening? How are we going home?" Ruu shook me then looked at me straight in the eye. She knows for a fact that I'm still out of it but she tried her best to gain my attention.
 


"mou~~" I moaned by her gesture... "Let’s just walk Ruu-chan... Your house is not that far."

 
"Walk? No way... It's too dark. Too scary for me. Definitely not..." she replied almost immediately and then crossed her arms. I admit, Ruu is just too cute to walk in the dark. Besides, walking is not her cup of tea.


I was about to oppose her remark with teasing but then…

 
"You guys going home now?" I heard a familiar voice over my shoulder... "Ruu-chan, should we walk you home?" the man offered then smiled brightly at us.

 
"Yuto-kun..." Ruu-chan whispered with admiration. I then realised that he’s Yuto Nakajima which Ruu mentioned to me a while ago. I never knew anything about him until now but they seem to at least know each other.


I looked directly at Yuto-kun’s face then turned to the figure next to him.
To my surprise, the arrogant boy earlier appeared in my sight.
 

By this, I frowned and then took a step backward... "No way!!! We'll just walk by ourselves, thank you..." I replied then attempted to pull Ruu's arm.
Yet, Ruu pulled me instead.
 
"Chotto Rio-chan... I don't want to walk alone..." she protested and looked at me in pitiful eyes.

"You’re not alone!! You're with me..."

 
"but- but we're girls... It's scary... Let's just go with them." My best friend smiled at me then pulled me closer to the two boys.
"Please walk with us..." I heard her with much enthusiasm.

 
I looked at the two boys. I saw Yuto-kun smile at us. Yet, the other boy just smirked at me and didn't say anything.
 
**
 
I sensed the awkwardness in the atmosphere. Well, for me anyway... Ruu-chan and Yuto-kun seems to be enjoying each other's existence, walking in front of us.

 
"Don’t you want the cell phone anymore?" I heard the man walking next to me proclaimed in a calm yet deep voice.
I stayed silent for a while... I know for myself I still want it for my brother... But I still have my pride.

 
"No... You can keep it. I don't need it anymore." I said in reply.

Within seconds, I heard him chuckle.
 
"You’re funny... You were asking for it desperately earlier, right?" he continued then glanced at me... "When I saw you at the stage reaching for the phone, I thought I didn't win and I just misheard it... Why do you have a guy's name anyway?"
 

"ehh?? Guy's name? My name is very girlish..." I defended with a frown... "Actually... My name is Rio..."


"RYO?? That's a guy's name... My name is also RYO... Short for Ryosuke..." he replied.

 
"No no... It's RIO... R-I-O... Yamada Rio!!"

 
"Wahhh... We even have the same surname..." he said with a smile. By this, I choked... I saw his clear complexion with the help of the small rays coming from the street lights. Even though it's dark, I glanced at his face for a few god seconds. His smile just matched the twinkle of the stars above us...
 

"Are you okay?" he waved his hand near my face.

 
"hai hai... We're nearly in front of our house... Thanks for walking me home... But don't think we're in good terms. I still don't like you for getting my beloved cell phone..." I said then stopped in front of our gate.


The couple in front of us stopped as well..."Rio-chan... I'll see you tomorrow ne? Thanks for accompanying me today..." Ruu-chan hugged me then turned again to the two boys.


Unexpectedly, a shout behind my back was heard… “Nee-chan… Okaeri!!”

I felt my brother hug my back with excitement which made me turn around and hug him back. By then, I smiled at him. However, I saw his immediate response towards the two boys who were standing beside me.


“Ahhh!!! Yamada-kun? Nakajima-kun?” he rubbed his eyes using the back of his hand and looked at them again. It seems like he can’t believe what he is seeing in front of him.


“You know them Ryota?” I asked.

“Nee-chan… They’re in the posters of my room!” he said and took the hand of Yuto-kun and Ryo-kun.


“Seems like Rio-chan is the only one who doesn’t know Hey! Say! Jump, ne?” Ruu-chan patted my back and then laughed at my confused face.


I took the chance to look at the two boy’s reaction towards my brother’s gesture. By then, I saw Ryosuke lean down to my brother’s level and patted his head.


“Thanks for supporting us ne?” he smiled at Ryota and then gave him a hug.

“Anou Nii-chan… Can I ask you a favour?” Ryota broke their hug and looked alternatively to Yuto and Ryosuke’s position whilst pulling a cute face… “It’s my birthday tomorrow… Can you come with us in the park?”


I was about to protest with my brother’s suggestion. However, a smile on Ryosuke-kun’s face made me stagnant to my position. No words suddenly came out of my mouth.


“Sure…” he said… “I’ll see you tomorrow ne?”

I saw my brother give off the biggest smile and then hugged the boy in front of him again. By this, I remained speechless. Apparently, we’ll be going with Yamada Ryosuke tomorrow… the same boy who I just cursed upon his existence just an hour ago.

"Arigatou Nii-chan... My sister and I will wait for you tomorrow..."
