This wasn’t the first Christmas Daehyun had spent penniless. The first Christmas he remembers was when his father walked out on him and his brother, leaving them in the care of a sickly mother. The next Christmas was spent at an orphanage, his older brother giving him a pair of socks to help stay warm. The following Christmas, his brother was adopted and Daehyun was left alone. Every following December 25^th blended into one lonely day where everyone aside from him wore a smile.

This wasn’t the first Christmas Daehyun had spent outside in the cold. Last Christmas, he was fired from his job and kicked out of his excuse of an apartment. He spent that merry night huddled under a cardboard box in an alley wondering whether it'd be easier not to wake up in the morning.

But although this Christmas he was stuck outside in the harsh snow with not a cent to his name, he was happy.

Because it was the first Christmas he was spending with him. The first Christmas holding his hand. Singing carols door to door with him.

Youngjae had found him in the morning one year ago, barely breathing, almost frozen. He had saved Daehyun.
