Monday

Monday to Sunday

Monday, oh how I dreaded it. It didn’t help that it was our first day back from summer break either. From the minute I stepped out of

my house I didn’t know what to expect. It was my last year in high school, something I had looked forward to for a while. Come

November I would have to take the entrance exams, hopefully make into a good college and then start my life.

I walked in, immediately being greeted by Sungjae, Sohyun, and Peniel. We saw the usual people, did the usual things nothing

seemed to have changed much except for the new faces of the freshmen. Peniel and I walked to our classroom and took one of the

desks in the back, silently agreeing to be desk-mates the rest of the year.

The annoying bell that at the same time I had missed, and would miss when I left, rang telling us that we should be seated and ready

to learn. At this point in time I was convinced everything was going to be the same as it had always been. I spoke too soon. Our teacher

was already writing their name on the board, ready to begin. The chalk made light squeaks and screeches, making us cringe.

“Welcome class, I will be your teacher my name is-”

Our heads turned as the door opened, some silently judging; Who would be late on the first day? You walked in; uniform wrinkle free,

long, shiny black hair. Your hands nervously held onto the books you had, holding them up all the way that they covered half your face.

“Oh, you must be the transfer, am I right?” The teacher walked over to you.

You took away the books, and my jaw pretty much hit the desk. With your head lifted up I could see your brown, sparkling eyes as you

blinked cutely, not wanting to make eye contact with any of us. “Neh.” You responded quietly. I stared at how smooth and perfect you

were, like an angel had just entered this hell hole. The teacher smiled, “Welcome to my class. I’m sure there’s a seat in the back.”

You gulped and kept your head down, slowly making your way to where we were at. “Dude, sit with Minwoo.” I nudged Peniel.

“What? But, why?” he whined.

“Just do it, please.” Minwoo was the only one without a desk-mate. The last person I wanted sitting with him was you. I didn’t even know

your name, who you were or anything like that but I wanted to.

“Just go, I’ll explain later.” I nearly pushed him off the seat as I saw you getting closer. Minwoo fist bumped with him as he took the

empty seat. I twiddled my thumbs and looked out into space, pretending that I didn’t know you were heading in my direction. “May I sit

here?” There was no use in trying to act cool, the minute I heard your angelic voice my heart rate sped up. I tried not to stutter as I

responded but seeing you this close got me all flustered.

“Ab-absolutely.” I cleared my throat. Just when I thought that I couldn’t be anymore lame you smiled and couldn’t help but grin like an

idiot.

“I’m Ilhoon, Jung Ilhoon.” I whispered quietly, not wanting to the teacher to hear. Or anyone else for that matter, no one needed to hear

me making a fool out of myself.

When you introduced yourself I thought it was the most beautiful name in the word, and I almost told you that but thankfully Peniel

tossed a paper ball at me and gave me a thumbs up.

You giggled and shook your head, turning your attention back to the teacher. I didn’t hear a single word she said for the next few

hours. I would constantly look at you from the corner of my eye, occasionally brush my arm against yours purposely just to see if you

would notice, which you did. But instead of moving away you kept your arm there. Monday’s didn’t seem so bad after all.

Chapter 7: Aaaand now I'm tearing up. ;A; This was so beautiful. It reminded me of 'My Heart Beats Only for You' by DarkAngel (except it was a lot shorter and Ilhoon doesn't kill himself).
