HOW TO LOSE
“Come on, Dara! Try to keep up! You might get lost!” Jennie’s high-pitched voice shouted from a top the mountain as I tried to catch my breath.
The tour guide reached out his hand to try to pull me up. I hated to be such a burden to them. I shouldn’t really have given up to the pressure. I wanted to punch myself in the face.
I stretched my hand and grabbed his wrist as he pulled me up.
“Sir, is it still going to be far?” I asked, panting.
“We are almost there, ma’am.” I could sense a hint of forceful cheer coming from his words.
Liar, I thought. He said that a while ago. I think it was just his way of uplifting my spirit to pull through. This was not part of this ‘Get together’ plan. However, they wanted to do this side-trip trekking journey. A viral spot for thrill-seeking adventurers. I had no idea how I could pull this off, though. My lungs are about to give up. My feet are beat up at this point. I am clinging to whatever branch or grass for that matter just to pull my whole body up. I could feel a cramp creeping in my right leg. ‘Fantastic’, I sarcastically thought. However
