By Chance

Description

They were two best friends that hopped on a plane of dreams. They crossed the globe with that one shared dreams as they held on to each other for support.
It was just the two of them until they showed up, unnannouced, but welcomed nonetheless. Wordlessly they accepted these two girls into their tightly knit familt with heavy reluctance at first, just like anyone who has just been ed a puppy when they were on their way out. They learned to co-exist and to exist as people on and off the bright stages.

They learned to share the success, the smiles as well as tears and regrets.

Sometimes yelling at each other was excusable.

And above all.... well, why don't you let them tell you?

Foreword

It was March 10, 2012. It was exactly a week before their audition. A week. Seven days. One hundred and sixty-eight hours. Well, sixty-three now.
The two girls were sitting on a bed, looking at magazines and listening to music, they assured themselves it was low; waking up the house wasn’t an option.
Their conversation was mostly idle chatter, both too tired to keep up proper conversation, but far too excited to sleep. They knew what they would dream about, anyways; it was the only thing they’d been dreaming about, thinking about, talking about for the past few months. They had been working so hard for it.

It felt like they had just gone to bed, as if one hundred and six-three hours passed in a night. They also felt like they hadn’t slept at all as their mothers did their make-up, fixed their clothes. They didn’t want to stand out, so they downplayed it; they didn’t want to blend in either, so they were still stylish.

            They walked in holding hands.

            They walked in shaking.

The two girls looked at each other as if they had never seen each other before. As if they had never seen people before: both their eyes were wide and held a glistering edge to it. Each one held a letter, their hands tightening around it enough to wrinkle and slightly tear the paper; they stared at each other intensely, debating, calculating…afraid.

Wordlessly they stared at their letters and traded them.

"You do it!" They said simultaneously, stared some more and nodded, doing the 'Fighting' hand motion. They wanted to cry; they would regardless of what the letter said. They knew that. Being as brave as they could muster, they tore the wrinkled envelope open and pulled out the letter, reading it with fear and shaking limbs, everything was blurry as the much expected tears started to from like the condensation drops on water glasses.

            They stared at each other.

            They stared at their letters.
