Have fun reading.
It was quiet during the car ride, but Dara didn't care.
Jiyong was focused on driving while Dara sat in the passenger seat, gazing out the window. She didn't even offer to drive despite his injuries.
She was still angry for some reason. Angry at the circumstances, angry at the situation Jiyong was willing to put himself in.
Today was too much. From being a happy, proud, and excited girlfriend at first, to a terrified and worried-to-death girlfriend in the end. Saying today was exhausting was an understatement.
She thought she knew what she was getting into when she accepted being the girlfriend of a gangster, but it hadn't really sunk in until now. Just recalling today's events still shook her.
She shifted in her seat and barely acknowledged the new car they were using, as only one thought occupied her mind.
Will there come a day when she won't become restless anymore?
"Dara."
Jiyong softly called her name.
She looked at him, and as if destiny played a cruel joke to answer her silent query, the sounds of gunshots filled the air.
Bang! Bang!
Dara widened her eyes as Jiyong swiftly swerved the car to avoid the bullets aimed at them.
Smash!
Jiyong didn't hesitate to ram his car into the black sedan driving aggressively beside them.
Dara had no time to react as Jiyong made a quick U-turn, nearly colliding with another car chasing them before veering away at the last second, leaving her breathless from the ordeal.
"Duck!"
Jiyong shouted as he pushed her down, rolled down the window on her side, and pulled out a gun, shooting the attacker before he could fire.
More men showed up, attacking them, but Jiyong expertly evaded their attacks, gunning them down while avoiding crashes. They reached an alley where a back-and-forth shootout ensued.
Jiyong's men arrived.
Dara couldn't even scream all throughout when this was happening as she released the breath she had been holding as her phone buzzed.
An unknown number sent her a text.
Unknown: Do you like my gift?
Jiyong stopped the car in front of a black van, rolled down the windows, and shot his gun straight at the back of the passenger van.
The bulletproof windows didn't shatter, allowing Dara to see the person inside.
It was Woojae, laughing maniacally... while holding his phone, smugly showing it to her.
That was all Dara saw seconds before she and Jiyong left the scene.
Unknown: Do you like my gift?
Unknown: I'm talking about the 7th attempt on your life, btw. All unsuccessful. Tsk.
Unknown: G-Dragon treasures you a lot.
Unknown: Too bad...I want to see pretty little things like you cry.
'Psycho.'
Dara blocked the number before Woojae could text her again.
Her hands were shaking as she washed her face in the kitchen sink. They had arrived at her apartment an hour ago, but there had been no conversation yet between her and Jiyong.
She was shaken by today's events and couldn't bring herself to calm down. Her hands were cold and trembling.
"Dara," Jiyong called after a long silence, his voice filled with worry.
He was behind her, a troubled expression on his face as she turned to face him.
He could see the fear and anxiety on her face, and he knew he was the cause of it.
He tried to approach her, but she raised her hand to stop him. She wanted some distance.
"Seven attempts?" she started, her eyes widening. "Seven attempts on my life, including today?"
Jiyong gritted his teeth. He didn't confirm, but his expression was enough of an answer for her.
"Since when?" she asked, her tone chilling.
He sighed. "Since last year. After meeting that son of a ."
At the Crass Crabs Bistro. After a chance meeting with Woojae at the restaurant, Woojae had been actively trying to kill her without her knowing about it. Jiyong had kept this a secret from her.
She could only imagine the dangers Ji
