Donghae would give his smile to the other guy every time he needs it. But here comes the day when he stops, and so Hyukjae is unable to see it anymore.

Chapter 1: These cute little babies. So much of their personalities are there even from a young age. Each with their ambitions for dance and music. Hyukjae with his caring nature. Donghae with his sweet sunshine smile that inspires hope. Wonderfully matched best friends. So wholesome.

Growing up brings changes, and growing pains. Even to the closest, bestest of friends. Donghae's insecurity over his appearance. At falling behind, or worry about being left behind in some ways. Poor guy. Hyukjae is a little oblivious. But it's understandable.

I was waiting for Hyukjae to talk about a girl and request a "good luck smile" before asking her out, and dreading how that would break Ddohae's heart for reasons he probably couldn't yet comprehend. But they're both really level-headed for teenagers about not liking someone just on a surface level. It's a relief neither has been swayed by a pretty face. But it's still possible that either or both of them could get close to someone else for various reasons and things could change...so my heart feels a bit uneasy lol.

One thing that never changes though, looks like Donghae's love of ice cream. Haha. He's so consistent. (Wonder what he likes more. Hyukjae or ice cream? 🤔)

Hyukjae's candid disclosure about not wanting to look at girls that way, aww, it was so wonderful that Donghae eventually confided and shared too! It's not just a question of one of them needing to be an ally for their best friend, instead they can have solidarity and real understanding. Even after Donghae's reluctance because he has his issues and hang-ups with that, it's so good he was honest in the end, so that they don't have a sad misunderstanding between them. Even knowing might add some complex things to their friendship that they don't know how to navigate yet.
