Chapter 9

Mr Cold Heart

“I think I need a job," I blurted out, blinking at the pale man across me. He looked up from his paper with half-lidded eyes.

"Wow," he dryly replied. "Congratulations for realizing that. Do you want a gold medal?"

"Flip you," I frowned. "Nevermind, Im supposed to respect my elders."

"I'm only three years older than you—"

"Anyway, what job should I have?" I hummed, pulling my phone out from my pocket. I heard him grumbling under his breath for a moment followed by the shuffling of papers. "I'm pretty decent at art. Should I do commissions?"

"Art?"

"Yes, art," I nodded at my fiancé's question. "Though if I do commissions, I'll still be stuck here. Being in this house without doing anything seriously ."

"Hey," he said, lightly protesting. "Don't blame my house."

I ignored him, humming as I search in my phone. It's been weeks when I left my old home—if that's what you usually call it—and boredom has been slowly getting into me. If I was a normal girl, I would've been searching for a job right now.

But I can't. My face has been in business magazines and articles for weeks, I don't think my hypothetical boss would like that.

"Boomer," I called, making him slightly frown. I stifled a snicker, he's so fun to annoy. "Do you have a free slot in your company?"

"No."

"What do you mean? Your company is asking for new interns!" I exclaimed, showing him my phone. "Come on, don't lie!"

"Do you even have any idea what to do?" he retorted, tapping something in his iPad. "If I remember right, you didn't take business in college."

"I sometimes do business stuff for my family," I informed. "I think that's enough,"

"No, it's not," he sharply looked to me. "And I'm three years older than you. I'm not a geezer nor a boomer."

I snorted. Looks like someone did a Google search.

▬▬▬▬▬

"Why not give her a secretarial position?" Grandma suggested, cutting into her salmon steak. Not to brag or anything, but I cooked and it pretty went out good despite being my first time. (Yoongi has to supervise while I maneuver around the kitchen, actually.) "She used to do those kinds of jobs before with her family. Right, dear?"

"Yes..." I faked a smile, turning to my food. I ignored Yoongi's knowing look.

"I want to remain professional when it comes to work, Grandma," he said, reaching for his wine. I pouted.

No one said anything about being his secretary! I can be anyone's secretary! Just not him!

"If I'm right about what you're thinking, then you're wrong." He said, darting his gaze at my direction. "Every person in the business world probably knows your face already. If they saw you working for someone else, being a secretary at that, what would they think?"

"But I need a job!"

"You actually don't, brat," he retorted. "You're my to-be wife, so why would you need to earn money? You can just use mine."

"But I'm a strong independent woman!" I frowned at him, dropping my utensils down. "Besides, it irks me when I spend money that I didn't earn myself!"

He was about to say something, but he shook his head and sighed instead.

"How about this? You do some of my secretary's work and I'll even pay you... though you won't be working at my building. I don't want to spark any indecent rumors."

Then what the heck is the point of this?! I wanted a job because I wanted a reason to go out!

"But..." I pouted, "Does that mean I still have to stay here?"

"No," Grandma cut in, making the both of us glance at her. "You would probably do the outdoor tasks instead of Yoongi's main secretary. In that case, it's a win-win situation, isn't it? You get a job, you're not in his building and you can spend your time meaningfully."

"What... what outdoor tasks?" I mumbled.

"It varies," Yoongi started. "Since you're living with me, it would probably makes sense if you fetch my newly-tailored business suits, right? Sometimes you have to visit the facilities I own and check on them in my stead. And then, you could also arrange preparations for the parties the company will hold." I gulped. Parties? Parties?! "Don't worry, the another secretary will help you when it comes to that." I sighed in relief.

"By any chance," I asked, making him hum. "Your secretary is just your secretary, right? Not like, y'know, a personal assistant as well?"

A corner of his lips tugged up, making me gulp.

"I suppose," he answered.

Well, It’s not too late to live at the (G)-idle dorms.

▬▬▬▬▬

"This is Sir Yoongi's schedule," he handed me an iPad. "He couldn't attend some of them, especially the mediocre ones, so you would probably go to them. It would perfectly make sense as well, since you're his fiancée. In that case, no one would be upset if he didn't attend their event."

I grumbled underneath my breath, making Yoongi's secretary sigh. Is this some sort of a responsibility as his soon-to-be wife? It suspiciously looks like that...

"Sir sometimes go to restaurants for his meetings, so he wants you to go to these establishments as soon as you can. He needs your reviews for them."

"There are lots of restaurant nearby his building, though?" I frowned, looking at the list he showed me. This is horrifyingly long.

"He doesn't like going to the same restaurant more than twice, especially when it comes to his meetings." The secretary informed. "It is also important to keep up with the trends."

He started to say a lot more, so I tried to listen as diligently as I can. If there's anything I'm really good at, it would be that I'm a fast learner. It's just that my perfectionist gets in the way sometimes.

"That would probably be all," he bowed at me, making me stumble doing the same. This is so damn annoying. I've been born into a rich family yet I could still never get used to unnecessary formalities. "I'll send you the other things that I forgot to tell you by emails."

"Okay, thank you." I murmured, nodding as he leaves.

As soon as the door clicked close, I threw the iPad across me. The gadget landed at the couch while I ran towards the guest room—which I'm currently using.

I want to eat crisps.

Chaeyoung is sad because her life is gonna change drastically. She has just three months to prepare. Ag least shopping for a wedding dress seems fun. And Yoongi can act like a stalker but he means well.
