My place next to you

Dahyun did you know? If your sixth sense is being able to spot a camera anywhere without even looking, then mine must be being able to find my spot next to you even with my eyes closed. Whether it’s a photoshoot, a fan meeting or an award ceremony, somehow I feel your presence and find myself next to you without even trying. It’s as effortless as finding the sun in the sky or the light house when you are out at sea. You shine so bright that I’m never lost when I look into your eyes.

But since when did you start averting your gaze when I looked at you? Since when have you started to drift away from me? I must not be the only one attracted to your warmth, because suddenly you’re constantly surrounded by fans, admirers, pursuers. And before I know it, the places next to you have all been occupied.

1, 2, 3 Action! And the camera is rolling again. I always give my 100% energy and tension for work. Even if you won’t meet my gaze, I put on my signature smile for my fans. Even if you are avoiding me, I try to hold myself back from reaching for your hands and busy myself playing around with the other members so no one will notice anything wrong. I keep telling myself that I can’t be too greedy as long as I can be a part of your world, so I try to be content with smiling at you from a distance. But Dahyun did you know? When the cameras turn off, I'm lost without your light. I feel a biting darkness seeping through, and it's suffocating like I'm slowly drowning. 

Suddenly I hear your voice calling my name again, it’s foreign yet familiar like a sound underwater piercing through my blocked ears, and it rings through my body.¹ I see you turn around reaching out with one hand, your searching gaze finally finds me and my whole world lights up again as I run to catch your hand. You bring me next to you so that I know - No matter where you go and whom you meet, you will always save my place next to you.
