“I’m really sorry, Sandeul,” Jinyoung knew it was the right thing to do, apologizing first. “It was my fault for coming up with those lies, and–”

     “But everyone else went along with it, too,” Sandeul stated, looking each member in the eye. “You could’ve told me the truth. Can I really trust you guys? Are you my real friends?”

     Baro could already tell tears were about to form in his eyes as well as everyone else’s. He set down the cake before he could drop it by accident, saying, “Sandeul, you don’t understand what we’ve been through. You just don’t remember. Jinyoung didn’t want to see you unhappy, and we didn’t either. Please don’t be mad with us, even though we messed up.”

     “Jaebal,” Gongchan pleaded. “It’s been really hard for all of us. We… lost you before, and we didn’t want you to lose your happiness either.”

     “They’re right,” Shinwoo sniffed as he wiped his eye from under his glasses. 

     Sandeul could see the raw sorrow displayed on each of the members’ faces. He sighed, softening up, “You went through a lot, and it was mostly for me. I shouldn’t be hard on you guys. You’re right, I don’t remember what happened. But I can’t be completely thankful to you until I do get my memories back. It still hurts that you lied to me.”

     “I know, and I’m sorry,” Jinyoung said again, his voice shaking. “From now on, we’ll only tell the truth to each other, right guys?”

     The others nodded in agreement, except for Gongchan who appeared a little nervous, “Does this mean we have to spill our secrets again? To Sandeul this time? He doesn’t remember…” he gulped, “what we’ve been hiding.”

     “You’ve been keeping secrets too?” Sandeul exclaimed, unsure whether to be angry or excited to hear more about what he missed out on. 

     “Let’s talk while we eat cake,” Baro said, while walking into the kitchen to fetch a knife. “I didn’t decorate it for nothing!”

     The others followed and sat around the table, waiting as Baro served up the dessert on paper plates. 

     After his piece was half gone, Sandeul spoke with frosting coating his lips, “So, what did you have to tell me? Were you secretly dating someone, Gongchan?”

     Gongchan’s cheeks flushed, “No! Perhaps Shinwoo would like to tell his secret first, since his isn’t as… dramatic.”

     Shinwoo looked up from his vanilla cake, “Sure… I guess. I’ve been in the plumbing business with my uncle.”

     Sandeul bursted out in laughter, accidentally spraying bits of cake on the table in front of him. “You’re a plumber? I never would’ve imagined!” he squealed while cleaning his mess with a napkin. 

     “That’s nothing,” Baro said with a smirk. “I’ve been shoplifting, robbing, stealing… Whatever you wanna call it. I guess I thought that would be easier than finding a job, but it really wasn’t.”

     “Jinjja?” Sandeul blinked, hardly believing that Baro ended up as a criminal. 

     “Baro-ssi,” Jinyoung said, folding his arms with a sly smirk as well. “Your secret is nothing compared to mine. For the past year, I’ve been living as a vampire.”

     “Mweo?!” A nearly flabbergasted Sandeul shot to his feet. “You’re a vampire? How… How is that even possible? Vampires are real?”

     Baro tugged on Sandeul’s shirt, making him sit down again. “Gongchan’s secret is the most outstanding out of all of ours though,” Baro gloated. “He’s been a werewolf all along. Can you believe it? Back when we were training, you know when he got sick about once a month and had to stay at home? He was actually transforming into a wolf during the full moon! And he–”

     “Hajima,” Gongchan interrupted, rolling his eyes at Baro. “You’re making it into a bigger deal than what it has to be.”

     “Sandeul?...” Shinwoo muttered as soon as he realized Sandeul had taken his crutches and left the table to sit on the couch. The other three looked back to see Sandeul alone, reading the lyrics of a new song they must’ve written without him, as his tears began dampening the page.
