3 Identities of my Mysterious Wife

Rain and MBLAQ took over MO and renamed it appropriately as the Men Protector. They abolished everything that L.Joe, Mihye, the flower sisters and Teen Top had strived to bring. All that they had done were now reduced to nothing and women were more trapped than ever.

Rain had ordered that men could have more than one wife. That men could keep slaves at home. That women shouldn't be allowed to work. That women were nothing more than just machines to cook and clean and help human kind continue reproducing.

Life was harder than ever after the implementations.

Some of the men were doubtful if this was the right way to do things. They had seen what good the original MO and WO had brought and were convinced that women could be as capable as men. Weren't they backtracking like this?

But even the government had no say in the matter when Rain and MBLAQ threatened to just kill the poor president off if they didn't let them do whatever they wanted. They pretty much got freedom to punish and torture the women without even having a single person standing up to them.

L.Joe sighed as he sat down at a lone breakfast table, eating his toast and reading the newspaper. More laws were implemented each day and the ideal equality that they had strived so hard to build was chipping away.

L.Joe had no control over everything right now, and he couldn't even step out of his house without being bombarded by reporters. His company's shares free-fell, and his family was being ostricized for raising him who was so vulnerable in the face of a woman.

He was suffering alright. In more areas than one. But what made him hurt the most out of everything that happened was....she didn't call.

Even after he confessed his love for Mihye live on national television, she didn't respond. She didn't bother to at least clear the doubts, to tell him if she liked him back or not. She didn't even bother to send a text.

He'd at least be happier right now if she sent him a text to reject him. At least she cared enough to do so.

But no, there was no news at all from her ever since that incident happened. If was as if she didn't see the news at all, but L.Joe knew it was impossible. The television was replaying it everyday, and on the radios, the newspapers, and there were even posters about it created, pasted all around town.

The whole country knew that he loved Mihye, there was no way Mihye herself didn't.

Then why didn't she bother making any sort of response at all? Didn't his love matter to her at all? Or was she having such a great time with Kevin that she forgot about him?

L.Joe's heart cringed and he felt like he died inside. He was really hanging onto the tiny glimmer of hope that she might have failed to see the news. Every time he checked his phone, he hoped to see a message from her or a miss call.

But nothing.

L.Joe stared at his toast, all his appetite disappeared. He chucked it away and sighed, rubbing his temples. He was about to distract himself with a book when his phone vibrated. L.Joe perked up and ran for it madly, desperately flipping it open.

His face fell when he saw that it wasn't from Mihye, but an unknown number. The unknown person sent him a picture which he downloaded curiously, wondering what it was about.

His eyes widened when he saw a child being chained to a wooden chair. He gasped loudly. "Minji!" he croaked.

What was his youngest cousin doing there tied up?

L.Joe scanned the message and his heart sank, dread filling all of him.

To: Lee Byunghun

Hey ex-Knight. As you might have guessed, this is Rain. Like that picture there? I think your cousin Minji must be enjoying herself, tied up like that. I wonder if she likes the taste of how dead rats taste like...
If you want to save her, send your wife here. Choi Mihye in exchange for your cousin. Don't like the sound of it? Too bad.
You have until this evening to bring her to the warehouse, mister, or you'll never see your cousin again. Don't worry, I won't kill your wife if you're wondering. Maybe just have some fun with her like how I did with the rest of the girls.
And don't even think of going to the police. They're all on my side now.

From: Rain

L.Joe sank onto his chair. "What am I going to do now?"

Mihye bit her lip as she leaned against the door of the guest room. Kevin had gone out to buy groceries, leaving her in her room while his sister Seungji in another. At least there was Seungji to keep her company at times, because now she couldn't really see Kevin as a friend, no matter what he says about loving her.

There came a knock on the door. "Unnie?"

Mihye perked up. "Seungji?" she smiled even though the younger one couldn't see her. "Anything's the matter?"

She heard Seungji take a deep breath. "U-Unnie..." she muttered. "I found where Kevin oppa's keeping the keys to your room."

Mihye immediately jumped to her feet. "Really?" she bounced up and down. "You really found them? You're a lifesaver, Seungji! Please open the door now!"

There was silence, except the shuffling of feet outside. Mihye frowned. "Seungji?"

"Unnie...I don't know if I should do this." Seungji whispered fearfully. "I want you to be with Kevin oppa, Unnie. I want you to be my real unnie. But I also don't like it if unnie has to cry everyday if you be with us. I don't know what to do..."

"Seungji." Mihye said gently. "If you want unnie to be happy you have to open the door. Because my happiness isn't with Kevin, Seungji. My happiness is with Byunghun oppa and if I'm not with him, I'll never be truly happy. Don't you want me to be happy, Seungji?"

Mihye waited on tenderhooks for Seungji's reply.

After a long wait, Mihye finally heard the click of the lock being opened and she swore it was the most beautiful sound she had heard. She opened the door and found Seungji standing outside, and she immediately scooped the little girl in her arms. "You saved me, seungji. Thank you. Thank you." she whispered.

"You'll not hate Kevin oppa right?" Seungji asked, scared. "Because he just really likes you that's all and-"

"I won't hate him, Seungji. I promise." Mihye smiled. She looked at the little girl. "And do you happen to know where Kevin oppa kept my phone too?"

Seungji blinked at Mihye and produced her white iPhone. "You mean this?"

Mihye brightened and hugged the girl again. "You're a saver, Seungji!" Mihye squealed. She grabbed her phone and wanted to call L.Joe to pick her up immediately before Kevin comes back, when a message came in.

Her brows rose when she saw it was from L.Joe.

To: Miss Apple

Apple, something has happened. My baby cousin, Minji has been kidnapped by Rain and I don't know what to do! He asks for my ex-wife as an exchange for Minji by this evening at the warehouse or he'll kill my cousin.
But I can't possibly do that! I love her! I can't let her brave such danger!
And what's more, she's living her happy life with another guy now. I can't just disturb her like this! But I can't go to the police either because they're in cahoots with Rain.
I really don't know what to do, Apple.

From: L.Joe

Mihye dropped her phone when she read. *Minji.* Her heart nearly stopped when she thought of that cute innocent girl that was brought into this mess.

She put Seungji down and patted the latter's head. "Unnie has to go now." she said in an urgent voice. "Tell Kevin oppa I'm sorry."

With that, she ran out of the house and flagged a cab straight to the warehouse. Seungji watched, uncertain. She picked up the phone that Mihye dropped and gripped it tightly. "Be safe, unnie."
