Chapter 15

Redemption

"Oh, you're here," called a voice as Taehyun walked over while Youngtaek was tending to the fire. "I am," hummed Youngtaek.

"Where's Beomgyu and Heeseung?" Asked Taehyun. "They went hunting a while ago, I don't know when they'll be coming back," replied Youngtaek as he shrugged, poking at the fire with a stick before adding a log, grumbling when his stomach growled.

"Did they forget that you need to eat?" Taehyun asked with an amused snicker. "I'm sure they didn't," grumbled Youngtaek.

"Where's Soobin?" Asked Youngtaek. "He's around here somewhere," mumbled Taehyun as he looked at the fire.

"Is he coming around?" Asked Youngtaek. "Probably not," hummed Taehyun. "I see," hummed Youngtaek.

"Soobin and Beomgyu don't have the best relationship right now, I hope you understand," explained Taehyun. "I get it," replied Youngtaek. "I'm pretty sure he's explained to me what had happened anyway," he added.

"I can't believe you forgot to get food for him," remarked Heeseung as Beomgyu was at a convenience store looking for something. "It's been a while okay?" Grumbled Beomgyu as he grabbed a few things, making sure to get some bottles of water for Youngtaek before going to pay for it.

"Also we got in late, and he didn't complain about the fact we didn't get food," explained Beomgyu. "He was probably too tired to say he was hungry," hummed Heeseung as he and Beomgyu left the convenience store, heading back to the fort.

When they got back to the fort Youngtaek got to his feet at the prospect of food, seeing the bags in Beomgyu's hands. "Sorry, I forgot," explained Beomgyu as Youngtaek ran over to get the bags out of his hands. "It's okay," said Youngtaek as he went to see what Beomgyu brought, sitting back down at the fire pit and going to see what he could do to warm up the food. He opened the bottle of water and drank some as he waited on the food to cook.

"Hello Taehyun," greeted Beomgyu. "Beomgyu," mumbled Taehyun as he nodded in greeting. "Heeseung," he added when he noticed Heeseung. "Taehyun," greeted Heeseung.

"Where's Soobin?" Asked Beomgyu. "He's... Somewhere," replied Taehyun as he shrugged, turning to the fire. "It's a shame, he's always here when it's close to Kai's birthday," hummed Beomgyu.

"Does Beomgyu not realize that Soobin is dead?" Asked Youngtaek as he and Taehyun talked for a bit while walking around Moscow. "I think he's in denial," came the reply as Taehyun sighed.

"What happened to Soobin?" Asked Youngtaek. "I don't know," Taehyun replied, being honest. "I wasn't there for the confrontation Soobin had with Beomgyu," he added. "I just know that I came back to him dead," he grumbled, sighing again as he looked down at his feet while he walked.

"That's crazy," mumbled Youngtaek as he took in the information.

"It only seems to trigger when he's alone, so keep an eye on him okay?" Asked Taehyun. "I'll try to," hummed Youngtaek.

~

Beomgyu's eyes seemed to cloud over when he noticed something, dropping the emotionless facade for a smile. "Hey Soobin," he greeted. "You made it!" He exclaimed, sounding excited.

Taehyun, Heeseung and Youngtaek looked at each other before deciding to humor Beomgyu, Taehyun speaking up first. "I didn't think you'd actually show up," remarked Taehyun as he smiled in Soobin's direction. Or, at least, where he assumed Soobin was.

"Of course not," mumbled Beomgyu. "Come sit by the fire, Youngtaek can share some food," he added. "Sure," hummed Youngtaek as he checked on the food.

~

"What happened to Beomgyu?" Asked Heeseung as he confronted Taehyun. "A lot has happened since he left the army, you know this Heeseung," came the reply as Taehyun looked up at him, rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand.

"You've changed a lot," hummed Heeseung. "Well, I didn't see myself tutoring your brother and yet I managed," grumbled Taehyun as he shrugged.

"I know him, Beomgyu isn't known to kill without reason," remarked Heeseung. "Dude, he's a part of the Spetsnaz, I know this," said Taehyun as he sighed in frustration. "I don't
know what happened between him and Soobin okay? Soobin wanted to confront him and he wanted to confront him alone," he explained. "I just don't know, okay?" He asked.

~

"Beomgyu," said Soobin as he stood in front of Beomgyu. "Yeah?" Asked Beomgyu as he blinked at Soobin. "It's time to let me go," hummed Soobin as he put a hand on Beomgyu's shoulder, causing Beomgyu to flinch.

"I'm dead, remember?" Asked Soobin as he looked down at Beomgyu. "I'm sorry," mumbled Beomgyu. "Don't be," reassured Soobin. "What you did was an accident okay?" He asked. "I know you want to be with Taehyun, and I'm sure he wants you back in his life," he added. "I-I can't," mumbled Beomgyu as he fell to his knees, staring at the ground.

"It's okay," reassured Soobin. "I won't be hurt if you've moved on," he added. "Just, don't blame yourself for what happened okay?" He asked, patting Beomgyu on the head. "It's my fault, it's all my fault," mumbled Beomgyu as he closed his eyes, clenching his hands into fists.

~

"You still have your anger issues huh?" Asked Soobin as he confronted Beomgyu. "It was an accident," shouted Beomgyu. "You know this," he shouted. "I'm not blaming you for killing your brother," Soobin said as calmly as possible. "Really, because it sure as hell seems like it," growled Beomgyu.

"If I blamed you I would've gotten Taehyun to kill you on the spot, you know this," added Soobin as he looked away from Beomgyu. "Like that mutt can kill me," snarled Beomgyu as he rushed forward, slamming into Soobin and slamming him into a tree behind him. "Don't. You. Dare compare me to him," he growled, the anger taking over.

~

Taehyun walked over, leaning down in front of Beomgyu and forcing Beomgyu to look up at him. "Soobin is okay," he reassured. "I don't know what happened between you two, but I think he forgives you," he added.

"I know you've had anger issues in the past, I used to be bullied by you too," hummed Taehyun. "But you've worked so hard to redeem yourself within the past few months," he added. "I know we went through a rough patch, but honestly I need you by my side like it was supposed to be," he explained.

"Can you forgive me for killing your best friend?" Asked Beomgyu, his voice quiet. "I don't think I ever will, but I've come to realize that sometimes these things happen," responded Taehyun as he let out a sigh. "Being part of this world is dangerous," he explained. "I don't want to be alone anymore," he whispered.

"I'd be down to join you," chimed in Youngtaek. "I don't think we'd be able to be apart anyway," he added. "It's been a while since I've been back home, I might as well stay around too," chimed in Heeseung.

Beomgyu looked around at everyone, hearing Soobin speak somewhere behind him. "See, they need you, all of them do," remarked Soobin. "I guess," mumbled Beomgyu as he closed his eyes. "We have a lot to work out, and it'll take some time," he added as an afterthought.

"We'll work it out, we did before didn't we?" Asked Taehyun. "Mhm," hummed Beomgyu.
