Description

Donghae is a bodyguard. He's been assigned to protect the King's betrothed: the newly titled Prince Hyukjae. Donghae's to never take his eyes off him.

Foreword

 

Hyukjae's pale hand runs down Donghae's sleeve. Brushes his fingers. There's a flirtatious glimmer in his gaze. He stands back. Shirt open. Soft pink on his cheeks.

"You always have your eyes on me, Donghae?"

"I must, your highness," Donghae says. But has to take his eyes off. To over his shoulder. The drapes.

"Even here?"

"Even here, your highness."

"You think I'd run away? Like this? You think I'd get far?"

"Ah... no, your highness. I don't think that."

"But the King must think that," Hyukjae says. Tilts his head. Moves a step into his sight again.

"No, your highness. He does not."

"He has told you what he thinks?" Hyukjae says. He's grinning. "He trusts you with so much, doesn't he?"

Donghae now takes a moment. Really looks into Hyukjae's dark brown eyes.

"Do you?" he asks. Quiet.

Hyukjae's lips curve up. Smile cutely. "Do I what, Donghae?"

Donghae blinks. Away from his pretty face. Eyes. The alluring shine in them. He clears his throat.

"I apologize, your highness."

"What?" Hyukjae says. "Donghae, I'm just asking. Do I what? You can say what you want... you know I don't care..."

Donghae takes a long breath. Hyukjae's bent himself. He's trying to meet his eyes. Pouty. Donghae can't help smiling. He looks up.

"Do you... trust me?"

It surprises Hyukjae. Who straightens up. His beautiful eyes stare for a second. Donghae's about to apologize. Again.

Hyukjae laughs. Light. Airy.

"Yes, Donghae. I do. With everything."

Chapter 13: I reread since the start and I'm full of sweetness! Of course we have suspenseful and sad moments that stab my heart too, but I found sweetness on baby Eunji, how her uncle treats her, Hyuk's spontaneity, the little details that make Donghae fall deeper for him TuT This story purifies my soul TuT
I found so funny how serious bodyguard Donghae is pure enough to feel bad about the ramen question and breaking Palace's rules and using his special abilities to make Hyuk smile again, only to be so flustered after that >w<
Meanwhile the soft and clumsy Hyuk that accepted every imposition without whining too much because he's the Prince now (with Eunji being the only exception) managed to make a plan to get important info from his sister without getting others in problems :0 Donghae only helped him and didn't know the reasons behind Hyuk's actions until the end!
So I'm very happy to have pure Hae and calculating Hyuk in this story too, I love how the characters are deep beyond what they showed first and incorporated aspects from real life Donghae and Hyukjae n.n Thank you for writing this! ♡

So if Hyuk gets really mad, will it progress to, "His royal kingypants?" Or, "His royal kingybreeches?"

Or "The trousers of kingheadedness are clearly chafing today..."

Chapter 13: Ah, this universe, so nice to see it again!

How mysterious, still. Everything going on with Hyuk and the book (Sora's) from Kyu, the training with Soonok, just things at court in general... Seems several people know a few pieces of the puzzle but nothing has quite come together to fit yet, at least from Donghae's POV.

It will be interesting if Hyukjae does let him in on more of these details and secrets. Considering Donghae is probably earning his trust with every thoughtful gesture. Not to mention the ways he's pretty much automatically and intuitively used his power to help Hyukjae in whatever sneaky stuff he's up to, without requiring much if any explanation. That certainly goes beyond his duty as bodyguard, and into valuable confidant territory.

Though we do know a few things for sure. Eunji is still adorable and deserves the world, Hyukjae is getting his regular ramen fix, Donghae is wrapped around his finger, and water (wawa) is wet. Those kinds of things.

fr tho, everytime I read this, I always thought it's set in the old times/traditional time but Im reminded that opps it's in the modern times everytime I see or read words like photoshoot or cellphone 😅 idk whyy tho. Hehe

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Is Siwon the one ordering Hyukjae to be "processed" by Soonok and for what? Does Hyukjae have a special talent? At tis point, all we know is Sora was proposing to allow people with special skills to have a choice on who to work for. Was she killed because of that?
This remains a mysterious and intriguing story.
